Parking charges in City Centre

Hay everyone.... How was the day? Hope u'll enjoyin the weekend.....

Nyways, it seems, City Centre has started charging customers for parking their cars on a per hour basis.... Its good to keep off the people who just park their cars for the whole day probably working in the nearby office and thus blocking the space for potential customers.....

But then, I think its unfair to charge the customers who might have to pay almost 10-15 riyals just for parking if they plan to go for movie or do some shopping....

I personally feel that outlets like Carefour or the theaters should come forward and have a tie-ups with the City Centre Management where-by any customer having a bill of more than 100 riyals gets his parking free and the same goes with the movie tickets....

I am sure these outlets would not want their customers to shy away from visiting city centre and purchasing from carefour or ansal plaza are those people who look for value for money.

Please let me know what you'll think about this strategy.

I've lived in Beverly Hills Tower and The Somerset in West Bay for 4 years.  I have had to drive all the way to Carrefour in Villagio because parking was not available in City Center.  I had to weather bad driving, detours for 2 years and crowds of window-shoppers.  I welcome parking-fees.

CC is taking a huge risk. Already CC area is crowded with construction of new exhibition center. Getting there is not easy anymore.  People will soon find other new malls to hang around and spend time.Cmon guys where else can you spend time in this desert!.. Malls.Family only day and now no free parking.

mir 2890 and max 100, the suggestion u'll just gave was too good.... i guess city centre shd follow it as it makes sense..... yes, CC may have invested a huge amt for building a parking space, but doesnt mean we r so generous to pay for no reason....

I avoided CC yesterday.... guess many did so and tats d reason there were lots of parking space down there yesterday !!!

it's ok to collect minimal and reasonable parking fee, after all, CC has invested a lot for such huge and wide parking area. at the same time, this will also give second thought to those who just take advantage of the free parking. there will always be win-win solution for that.

Gas costs more, a lot more! And they have to contend with Saliq all day, everywhere, except perhaps between 1-3 p.m.

in dubai, one of the carrefour branch allows people to park in the designated dubai municipality parking and they reduce the bill with the amount paid for parking.carrefour is run by the same company here in qatar

In UAE, parking in City Centre is free for first 4 hours which is good enough for shopping and watching movies. Qatar should also follow the same.......

If you read previous posts on the topic, you will see that City centre has offered this service to the tenant shops. its up to them to utilize it - at a cost.
