ECNR is default in all new passports, if you are having a old passport you can simply apply for new passport and get the ECNR. Said that, its not required and its not checked anymore.

If the passport has been applied with the qualification documents and issued in the last 4 years, there is no need of a specific ECNR stamp as all passports are ECNR unless specifically mentioned otherwise. If it is an old passport and issued without the supporting documents being provided; it is best to get the ECR cancelled on the passport. It is just a day's procedure in the office where the passport was issued.Even otherwise, you can get a one-time entry permission at the airport immigration but that depends on the mood of the officer; so don't risk it.
