News is big business and with competition amongst channels - media hype and jingoism is the order of the day..

I don't know if he is guilty or if he's been set up. I hope that if he is truly guilty, that he gets what he deserves. If the maid has lied - and he has raped no one - then I hope SHE gets charged and goes to jail!!! Nobody should be able to get away with destroying (or attempting to) another person's life whether it be by rape or false accusations of it!
a "Strauss-Kahn released from house arrest,case heading to dismissal" headline will sell a LOT more newspapers than a "case continues,Strauss-Kahn still under house arrest" headline...it's all about the money,sad but true...
I agree.Sad thing is- he won't get an apology but nor will the maid be able to tell her true story.He is not an innocent - but a wiser person would have waited until they truly 'got him' .So it was *ucked up good time from the start.

I thought this was a set up at the start. He is a lot of things – including a menace to women but I smelt a rat. How stupid are the people that pursued this? Why involve a maid that is an illegal immigrant? They must have offered her immunity and a green card in order for her to come up with these allegations. The defence team was allowed to show the flows in the prosecution. The ones that ‘wanted’ this prosecution have played into so many hands. He is now always going to be seen as a wronged man – however will probably get another job at a high level and still be a menace. What a joke.
Mystiq, no he won't get his job back as he has already resigned as the IMF head and the position has been filled already by Ms. Lagard. However, it is said that he can be considered as a late entry candidate contesting for the next French president's post.

Talk to a media person & they will tell you that they're only 'supplying' a 'demand' & if they don't,there are plenty of others waiting to do the same...when a public demands 'jingoism' & 'hype' why blame ONLY the media for supplying it?...2 sides to every coin as the saying goes...your average person wants a story that is 'sensational' in some way...resulting in the media putting a spin on things..
So does he get his job back at the IMF?
