Use Visual Cues to Stay Motivated
One of the methods I have found to be a useful way to stay motivated is to use visual cues and reminders. It is very easy to stay motivated to accomplish the things we are passionate about and truly enjoy working towards, but what about when we are trying to tackle the other things. The concept is similar to when we tie a string around our finger, or wear a rubber band around our wrist to remember something. Visual cues can be a powerful reminder of our motivation to accomplish things that we may not find intrinsically enjoyable. Think about some examples of the things that most people struggle to accomplish; losing weight, stopping smoking or drinking, saving money,… you can probably think of better examples than I can. Most of us have goals that we would like to accomplish, but that we lose motivation, or at least have momentary loss of motivation which prevents us from accomplishing the end goal. Carrying a reminder with us, or putting visual reminders in strategic places is a good way to jolt ourselves back to a motivated state.
