HORRIFYING FRANCE EMBASSY IN QATAR

The gruesome experience a common person has to face in France embassy is beyond words, unless anybody goes and personally experiences it.
Starting from the main entry door outside everyone has to wait on the road in this scorching sun without a queue as the watchmen in the door allows 4 persons at a time randomly ,so all are pushing each other to get inside creating a chaos. As one enters the visa room which is very small and huge number of people enters again no queue just stamping and pushing each other its a horrible scenario. Couple of days back there was some bad feedback on Indian embassy though it must be definitely handling more 10 times this crowd .But other visa offices are not same eg. UK visa office is much more systematic ,with proper place to sit and everyone is called in order. In french embassy there is lot of favouritism which is clearly visible, OK fine now someone will say you are staying in there country so be with it.But i think each and every outsider has the ability to excel themselves so we are here and not paid to sit.
Secondly go all over the world favouritism is at a very lower level in big nations ,though they are filled with outsiders .
No one at the entry point checks for the document I feel one must really get in to feel the heat , at least some one from France see the overall operation is so horrible compared to all other embassy's.

Totally agree with you about the service of the Indian Embassy. What's even good is that one gets their passport back the same day and the Embassy has numerous visas to process regularly in systematic way.

I applied for a visa from the Spanish Embassy and we was very disappointed with the whole process. We waited for almost three weeks for an appointment which is only available on a particular day a week for a few hours, one has to hand in their passports to Embassy for generally more than two weeks, their request is for personal bank accounts(so it's all about the money) and if you phone their offices you lucky if someone answers.

legal_pad--I never suggested going to Paris. It's beautiful city, but I, too, prefer the South--I'm a bit of a fun-in-the-sun sort of chap. Bordèu is nice also.

I agree with you, The French Embassy is French territory.

But I don't get this, Why would I visit Paris as a Tourist, there is other French cities that are 10 times better and appealing than Paris. I believe PARIS IS JUST OVER RATED!!

Ask any French person who lives in the south of France.

I heard the Iranian ladies are very well dressed!

Especially outside of Iran.

But, I also heard that there are places in Teheran where one, if one knows the right people, can see the same and enjoy cultured and sophisticated,or , if one prefers, wild parties.

Don't judge a book by its cover....or propaganda, comes to mind.:)

baldrick2dogs - and I suppose you have still not tried the Iran to Paris flight. It gets a lot more interesting then the Jeddah to paris flight and you will be left wondering whether this flight actually started off in Iran or in Fashion world

Fenchie - I once took a flight from Jeddah to Manchester via Paris (only flight available at short notice). When I boarded the plane was full of dowdy looking women in abayas. When I landed it was full of glamour pussies. Hardly a black outfit to be seen save a few LBDs.

The French wants to dissuade people flogging into their Embassy. They have to nominate & engage private agency for visa processing like the British.

Well compared to all this First world embassies definitely the Indian embasssy is a lot better organised keeping in mind the large number of visitors it caters to on a daily basis and with its limited resources

Like I said, France will get over it if you don't visit again.

sun--with 60 million France has all types of people. People just like to generalize. Most of it is out of jealous IMHO. ;-)

Yes . . . at a table with quality cuisine, great wine and even better conversation--easily found in France, where the cuisine is a world heritage site.

Well, I think you must be looking at only one person to be able to say this kind of thing. If you were to look at the 70 million+ visitors and say this, you know where you would put your own face...

No one is making you go to France, dancer. But with over 70 million visitors each year, putting France at or near the top destinations annually, France will get over it should you decide not to visit.

Like B2D said, if people waited their turn, it would all work well. In my home country, if you try to push in or cut the line - you take your life in your hands (and we're considered "nice"). On an unrelated note, if every driver obeyed the rules and took turns - traffic would run more smoothly as well. Good luck cutting the lines in France.

The French Embassy is not a business legal pad, and you are NOT its customers.

The French Embassy, like all other embassies, are not part of Qatar; it is French sovereign soil. And as people are so fond of saying in Qatar, 'if you don't like it, leave'; our embassy/country, our rules--as people like to say on QL. LOL!

Typical French embassy customer service, is like serving frogs for dinner, you are going to wait for the frogs to arrive from Paris via Qatar Airlines.

Bad feedback on Indian embassy?!!! I think it's best organized, efficient and most spacious among the lot here in Qatar. They have 6-8 service counters dedicated to various services with electronic tokens and large screen displays. Applying for and getting a visa was a breeze. Women and foreign nationals get prioritized and the security staff are extremely helpful. Although I saw a long line (musical chairs) of Indian citizens, there was absolutely no chaos, or pushing, or noise. Extremely well organized.

What was appalling was watching some locals (probably company PRO's) barging in front of the queues and shouting at the female staff to get attention, who maintain their cool regardless.

If they had some priority tagging system in place, there wouldnt be any pushing around. In the absence of a system there is chaos. UK Embassy you have tokens.

The pushing and shoving is all about the people trying to get in and not the Embassy at fault directly. If those wanting to get it behaved in a civilized manner this would not be a problem
