Woman sends two cats to the vet when one falls ill... and he puts the wrong one down by mistake ;o(

____________________

A couple who were devastated to be told one of their two cats needed to be put to sleep because it was so ill were horrified when blundering vets put down the other cat by mistake.

The couple had arranged to have the rescue cats, Tammy and Maddy, neutered last week.

But vets said that Maddy was suffering from a deteriorating leg condition and needed to be put to sleep.
Miss Raab said: ''Maddy's leg had started to get very bad - she couldn't jump up or climb on anything, and she got to the point where she couldn't even stand up without falling over again.

'When we took the two kittens to the vet, we asked him to look at Maddy's leg - but we weren't expecting such bad news.

'I cried when the vet told me the kindest thing to do would be to put her down.
'But I took comfort in knowing that I would still have Tammy, and knew I had to be strong for her, because she would miss Maddy.

'When my partner walked in to the vets and saw Maddy standing there, he asked the nurse straight away where Tammy was. Her face dropped and she said 'are you sure that's Maddy?'

'What pet owner wouldn't recognise their own cat though? The vet came out and was very apologetic - he said he was very sorry, but there had been a mistake, and they had put the wrong cat to sleep.

I'm NOT making those comparisons, YOU ARE.

That is like somebody getting fired from their job, and you intervening by saying, "why are you upset about being fired? There are protestors being murdered in Syria, Tsunami victims in Japan, pedophiles by the boatload world wide!"

Your comment has no value, son. Their cat being "put down" is their own personal tradegy. It has NOTHING to do with anything else that is going on in the world.

You're out of line for even jumping into this thread with your initial reply.

^^ worst comment of the week.

Don't compare their tragedy with world tragedies. That doesn't even make sense.

To each is own.

YOUR'S is the worst comment of the week. How can YOU compare any person dying or being abused as the same as a cat dying?

It is SAD a much loved family pet died but it is hardly a tragedy.

They were both sent to be neutered. That's why both cats were at the vet.

why they send both cat to the vet? Why don't they just send only the ill one?

Well it was a tragedy for the cat - it has its own world and two wrongs don't make a right. Why didn't the vet just amputate the bad leg anyway? The family concerned probably couldn't solve the world's problems but they were trying to make this cat's world better. Vet's are expensive too. If someone made this mistake with my Hamish there would be all hell to play.

It was a cat, it's not like a human was put down.

MBK why would they expect or deserve compensation?

A cat, albeit a much loved cat has died. Is it the end of the world? NO.

Does it equate to what is really happening in the rest of the world, torture, war, rape, starvation, deprivation, child labour etc?

Sorry, I know I am a bolshie old boot but a cat dying as much as it was loved is nothing compared to all of the above.

If there is any compensation - let's hope, it goes to other causes.

I would never harm a human being or an animal - but lets put this in perspective.

I have had pets and against my better judgement took on two dogs. I come from a farming family - so I do like animals but a cat being put down by mistake? Come on......

That's tragic...very very sad! I seriously hope the vet is penalized justly. This was indeed a big big mistake!
