Changing tourist visa to maid visa

Hi. I would be really grateful if someone could help. I have found a lovely lady we would like to employ as a maid who is here on a tourist visa which expires soon. The agency I am using to transfer her tourist visa to a maid visa has told me they will need her original passport to do so. The travel agency my potential maid is using has told me that a photocopy of the original passport is sufficient for immigration to process her maid visa and the original passport is not needed. They will not release the original passport until I provide them with the maid visa number. Can someone please let me know who is correct? Do I need the original passport for the maid visa to be processed or is a photocopy enough? Please advise!!! Thank you very much.

Hi!

Maids visa cannot be transferred to a work or company Visa. So the company should have a approval for the Visa then you should get a noc from the old sponsor and exit the country. Apply for the new visa from your company and come back with your new visa..

Thanks for all the advice. Things are much clearer now. I also have one more question to post on the forum if somebody wouldn't mind advising me about. Thank you again.

O yes please ensure that the initial visa you had obtained for Maid under your sponsorship has the same nationality on the visa as the Maids nationailty. The initial visa cost QR1500.

1). Get a noc from the travel agency that they have no objection to transfer her to your personal sponsorship.

2) fill in the application form attach passport copy of the maid, the approval number, and original noc from the agency along with your id copy.

3) Go to the immigration department and submit this application and pay a fees of Qrs. 300/-.

You should get your visa in 1 day if all papers are in order. Once you get the visa again visit the imigration with your visa copy and her original passport and they will transfer her visa on the passport again you must pay 500/- for transfer. Thats it after this proceed with medicals and fingerprint.

The agency is probably asking you her original passport as assurity that she wouldnt run away or something like that.
