British Queen decorates Nepali with CGC
LONDON (AFP) – A Nepalese soldier in the British army has been given a top bravery award by Queen Elizabeth II for his heroics in Afghanistan, where he single-handedly saw off more than 30 Taliban fighters.
Corporal Dipprasad Pun, 31, said he thought he was going to die and so had nothing to lose in taking on the attackers who overran his checkpoint.
He was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Cross (CGC), which is given in recognition of acts of conspicuous gallantry during active operations against the enemy

mom what you said is truth and truth is the fact what people had seen. Indian Army's Gorkha regiments, the British Army's Brigade of Gurkhas, Gurkha Contingent of singapore, Malaysian Armed Forces - Royal Ranger Regiment are the diverse form of Nepalese Army and the and many in UN missions.
Metallic, I love the quote. A friend in Indian army told me once that Gurkhas are employed in both Indian and british army. Infact they form the first line in Infantry taking the bullets. Still remember the friendly Gurkha watchman in my hometown who would show us his 'kukri' (curved knife) while narrating deadly encounters with dacoits.
I am still in awe with another tribe in Nepal called the 'Sherpas' I employed while trekking himalayas. These seemingly short and fragile men with mild nature (and great sense of humour) have the energy of a bear. They climb like mountain goats while I would be stopping frequently to take a gasp (under the pretext of taking snap shots.) I salute these wonderful people.
And they are given their proper rights by the British govt. A few months back there was a big protest asking for their rights.
i agree with you cabbage, such hardworking people..
They are brave, kind, loyal and hard workers.
Most of the security I have seen are nepalese and their are very swee, kind , loving and above all, very helpful..... God bless.
So proud to see this man.
A brave man who desreved this medal.
I thank him for what he did.
World War I (1914–18), 200,000 soldiers
World War II (1939–45), 250,280 soldiers
If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha -Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw
Compensation to his family.
So what will queen give him, if in case he died in that clash....
Good for him.
At least in the UK they get a pension afterwards with the option of remaining in the UK, which is more than I can say for this and other countries in which the Napalese serve as soldiers.
.Hired soldier......fighting for a rich country ........killing people who have done nothing against Nepalis.......since when Queen started distributing bravery awards for contract killing.
