I am looking for help/information from current expat teachers in Doha
Hello
If there is any teachers living in Doha that would be willing to share some basic information with me regarding the overall package and the day to day workload for a primary school teacher in Doha I would greatly appreciate it.
The type of information I am looking for is
- What are the real working conditions like? (hours, expectations, support and so on)
- What is the pay package like?
- How is housing arranged? is it provided accomodation or is there an option of taking an allowance (if so how much is the allowance?)
- what other benefits does teachers get? (medical, end of service pay ... )
- is it possible to visit a school, maybe follow a day in a class to get a feel for the school?
I should say that I am not the teacher, my soon to be wife is. I am starting a job in Doha and we are trying to explore her options in Doha, so any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for reading, and hopefully helping us out.
I'm afraid that it differs widely from school to school. Some are quite good and others you might find somewhat appalling compared to northern European standards. However, be aware that your wife-to-be would be considered a local hire and would not be offered housing or tickets or other allowances.
it is for your wife to know on what to expect in qatar once she is already got a job...do not count the chicks until the eggs are hatched....
