I am in similar situation. My contract was terminated unexpectedly. I have a bank loan and now no income to pay it off. They have taken my passport until the bank gives clearance. My wife and children have left here as it is too stressful and distressing for them to stay and see the way I am being treated. I am desperate to leave here and reunite with my family. I have been held here for 2 months so far. My wife is trying to access a loan from overseas to pay off loan here but it is very difficult. I have missed out on 2 job offers elsewhere that were going to pay me more than i earnt here so could have paid loan back from overseas. I feel like a prisoner here. No passport and no way out. this has torn my family apart. We just want to close this chapter of our lives for ever. Any advice???

Its so sad to hear that we workers are being treated

like a slave here..

I myself have some worries, been here in the company

for three years without taking yet my three years

annual pay. I asked my sponsor this morning if i

could get that benefit and she told me theres a new

rule now that if you didnt get/used your annual leave

its good as forfeited. As far as i know theres nothing

in the labour law such claim.

Do you think the ministry of labour will help me with

this? im so scared they might taken it for granted since

my sponsor is a qatary and she has a position in the

government.

Please enlighten me..

Today I lodged complain at both embassy and Human Rights Department. Both after discussing, requested me to go directly to CEID , since I do not have other payments, settlement issues. They told no need to go to labor deptment. Will it work ? I believe CEID could let me get out of Qatar.

You are obviously getting nowhere with your MD and manager. Find out who is the Qatari sponsor and go to him directly with your case. Still pursue the labor board option. I assume you have a copy of your work contract and bank statements showing no wages paid by your employer. The more documentation you have the better.

Poor Guy!

As Peninsular_expat said File a complaint with the labor department.

1- Prepare all the communication if you have with the company regarding your resignation.

2- Go to human rights with all your documents and file a complaint there.

3- Keep in touch with embassy.

4- Your company might be preparing a case against you if yes then dont delay any further.

Good Luck.

The Labour Ministry in Qatar has announced a hotline to receive grievances pertaining to Ministry and private companies, from the public.

The service will be available on calling 44841221. The number will function under the Ministry’s public relations department. It is open for nationals, companies, and residents, who need to complaint about the performance of Ministry and its activities.

The complaints will be attended to immediately and will be referred to concerned officials or departments, with powers to deal with the matter and arrive at quick solutions, a senior Ministry official said.

The service is also open to expatriates, who wish to raise their voice about private companies. Even nationals, who have signed deals with the private sector firms, can lodge complaints through hotline service of the firm, to fulfill their contractual obligations.

The new service has been launched, following a series of meetings between Minister of Social Affairs and Acting Minister of Labour, H E Nasser bin Abdullah Al Humaidi, and senior officials from Labour Ministry.

File a complaint with the labor department as soon as possible and also contact your embassy. The longer the delay, things can turn worse.

Exit permits take one to two days max, and if its done online, even less time...

The HR at your office is playing games unfortunately.

Is there anything I could do faster, if I approach CIED through Embassy ?

Company doesnt have any idea to release me before another 2 months time. Thats a clear msg frm them. I really have reasons to leave so urgently. Resignation was given more than 1 month ago.

I worked in Qatar for last one year, I performed well , and there was no complain on me at all. But wen I resigned the MD ( Pakistan) and Manager's(Bangladesh) attitude was , you can not not leave as u wish . We will decide wen you could leave and warned me they will put false allegations on me. I have never met these kind of people.

I contacted embassy. It may take long time to go through legal .

Who the hell have rights to hold me ? The exit permit is a hell of law here.

GO & lodge a complaint with the labor department before your company files a case against you for absconding. It has happened to many & can happen to you as well.
