Qatar Academy, again!
Hi All,
I am revisiting one of the usual questions: schools!
I am specifically interested in Qatar Academy for my 3-year old daughter. I know there have been a lot of pros and cons discussed here on QL, but much of what has been posted is now rather old, and the consensus seems to be that the school is constantly changing (hopefully improving!)
So what's new? Are there now more non-Arabic speaking kids in the early years? What is it like to be a girl amongst mostly arabic-speaking peers? How are the teachers? I like the idea of a tough IB curriculum and, like every parent, I like to believe my little one is bright. But what if she is a "non-traditional learner?" Will she get any kind of support? (I know such support is offered by DESS, for example.) And speaking of DESS, any comments on that? Any input would be very greatly appreciated!
I cannot thank you enough, Lincoln Pirate -- VERY useful site, indeed. I was not aware of it...
Still, however, the info is a couple of years old. And the statistics are lumped for the whole school. This is potentially an issue, because my understanding (from older QL posts) is that QA is better for the Diploma Program, while the primary years program, especially, is lacking. According to older posts, this is attributed to the fact that the Primary Years program is not very international and is mostly for locals. Apparently there has been a push to change this, but I am wondering if anyone has any updates...
Thanks again!
