Maid sentenced for insulting the Qur’an
By Nour Abuzant
An Indonesian housemaid was sentenced to a year’s imprisonment and subsequent deportation for insulting the holy Qur’an in February last year.
According to the charge sheet, the sponsor informed the police that he found pages of the holy Qur’an burned in addition to black magic tools like incense.
According to the testimony of a policewoman, the maid said that she wanted to take revenge on her sponsor’s husband for frequently assaulting her. “For this purpose, I performed a black magic and I am the only one who can deactivate it,” the maid added in the police interrogation.
The Doha court of first instance also heard that the maid had worked in the house of her host family for almost two and half years.
She denied that she confessed to the charges in the police because she was promised to end the matter there if she did so.
The court, however, believed that the maid’s confessions were taken under reasonable circumstances.
The court suspended the jail penalty, considering that the suspect had a clean criminal record.

Yes, especially for the people who come in late and look over whet's happened on a thread in the last hours/days.

After an offline day, so many threads are reading so strangely to me now!

At least I know the explanation. What about the people who have missed all that? They'll just think that posters have all collectively lost it.

This pruning by the MODS is essential, but it leaves threads looking strange.

Or did she not? Is she a witch or is she not a witch? Actually she is not the first maid in the gulf to perform magic on her employers. Memo the women who served up urine laced drinks to their sponsor? A lady I knew back in SL who was a maid in the Gulf for awhile confessed to me that lacing a man's, read employers, drink with your own urine is a "black magic" technic to making him your slave!I've also heard stuff of pigeons blood been used etc..eeeeks! Gotta pity these women. I mean what kind of mentality should one posses to go experiment this way?

tented... errrr... I mean reformer is trying hard to blend in. Perhaps he has reformed, and is actually willing to be a part of the QL community this time. But let's see how long it takes before he has another outburst and gets banned again.

At least it will be relevant news to QL

Trolls like Reformer above who has nothing worthwhile to contributeshd be deleted,... On the topic, they should have checked the brooms of the house for jet lag, before proclaiming her a witch!

Oh man.... I have just read back through the thread and it is all jumbled up. My comments make me look like a sissy bursting into tears. There was a lot of troll activity in this thread yesterday, and the MODS got their industrial strength delete key out to deal with them. But now there is stuff out of context. Blooming trolls are running riot at the moment. What on earth do they get out of such activity? Perhaps this is the only way they get to bully somebody without getting pummeled into the ground.

People don't know how lucky they are..

We used to have to get up at twelve o'clock at night, half an hour before going to bed. LICK the road clean with our tongues. We had half a handful of freezing cold gravel, worked twenty-four hours a day at the mill for fourpence every six years, and when we got home, our Dad would slice us in two with a bread knife.

Luxury!

There are ways of telling whether she is a witch.

Brit: Are there? Oh well, tell us.

Cabbage: Tell me. What do you do with witches?

Choco: Burn them.

Cabbage: And what do you burn, apart from witches?

Choco: More witches.

Brit: Wood.

Cabbage: Good. Now, why do witches burn?

Brit: ...because they're made of... wood?

Cabbage: Good. So how do you tell whether she is made of wood?

Choco: Build a bridge out of her.

Cabbage: But can you not also build bridges out of stone?

Choco: Oh yeah.

Cabbage: Does wood sink in water?

Brit: No, no, it floats!... It floats! Throw her into the pond!

Cabbage: No, no. What else floats in water?

Brit: Bread.

Choco: Apples.

Brit: Very small rocks.

Choco: Cider.

Brit: Gravy.

Choco: Cherries.

Brit: Mud.

Brit: Churches.

Choc: Lead! Lead!

TB: A Duck.

Cabbage: ...Exactly. So, logically...

Brit: If she weighed the same as a duck... she's made of wood.

Cabbage: And therefore...

Choco: ...A witch!

They CAN do that TB - surely the only reason to copy/paste items of news onto QL is to illicit some feedback and generate discussion on the issue - not just to regurgitate what anyone can read on GT or Penin - I agree, thats rubbish and pointless.

I am more interested in what people think about copy and past news articles. Even if they are from Doha. Would people prefer that stories such as this were not brought to their attention? Would people prefer to go and find their own news, or are they happy to be fed this sort of stuff?
