If you could fix something what would that be

Hello,
We are from Cyprus and Greece (wife) and are planning to move to Qatar and looking for a job related to project management (for myself) and in English teaching (for my wife).
As far as I understand Qatar laws require us to be proactive otherwise we can depend our staying to the employer and maybe other issues.

An example that came to my attention is that if visa is not transferable, we are not allowed to change employer otherwise we must leave the country. Since we both look for a job can you see any arrangement that would support each-other's staying? Is there something we should not do? (like working to the same employer with no transferable visas)?

Are there any other issues that would limit our freedom there and we would regret if not do something about it in advance?

Warm regards,

Tryfonas

As far as I know, sponsor will transfer visa to the next employer IF it is mentioned in the contract. There might be another way...

The title and the thread are misleading...

However, there is no visa that you can opt to be "Transferable". To allow you to transfer your via to a new employer as and when you wish , will depend on the sponsor and in this regard no one, not even the sponsor himself can give you any guarantee that he will be ready to do so , should you require.

slman is right.. first apply for the job from overseas.. you can get a better contract.. and yearly tickets.. allowance for rent.. etc... then come to your work in Qatar.. work on your visa and then you can sponsor your family and make them come.. or she can come with a visiting visa and then change it under your sponsorship.. then she sould look for a job from Doha, when you guys are all settled in... that's easier for you and her!

No, nobody lives and works in Qatar yet.

I'm looking for a job on different sites and looking answers related to work on sites such as qatarliving. Since there is a Context related to visas and working, It's hard for me to see what to watch out for.

You posted this before; I replied; You sent me an email; I replied.

Last time you're giving the impression that your wife is already hired. If it is not the case, do not even think about it.

Even if you will be able to stay here long enough to seek a job, the contract will be extremely unfair as you will be under "Local Contracting" where most of the allowances are not offered; that normally doubles the income here.

I faced the same problem. I took my wife under another company visa and faced some problems. Luckily I got a chance to change my wife's sponsorship.

My advice for you is, please you come alone here and settle your self.No need much time for it. Just til u find a job.once u get a job, since u planing for Project management job, you may get entitle for the Family visa status.(Salary wise and Profession wise) so u can sponsor your wife (So she will be under your sponsorship) So she will be free as a bird. any time can work not happy then she can change the job.

This will give you the happiness u looking.

BUT this family visa process is bit long. minimum will take 3-6 months. So til that u can bring your wife under 6 months visit visa if u really need her to be with u before 6 months.

Hope this will help you to decide.

I am a little confused.

However try and find a job online before coming out. It can be a very long and expensive process.

Many many people are looking for jobs here.
