Ok a quick straw poll to satisfy my curiosity. Please post here is you are a user of Photoshop, but also indicate if you have ever actually bought a licensed copy for yourself.

My answers:

User: Yes
Ever Bought: No because it is too damn expensive!

Thank you for taking the time to reply ;)

Yes, as a commercial photographer, photoshop is a HUGE part of our investiment, and yes it is expensive but a legit copy of CS5 is the only way to go! :) I use Photoshop, Bridge, Lightroom, Indesign and Premiere on a constant basis.

No not free Jack. But in the UK Adobe CS5 Photoshop Extended is GBP 607 (which I won't pay), but Adobe CS5 Photoshop Extended, Student and Teacher Version is only GBP 167 (which I would pay).

Exactly TB... CorelDraw is intuitive... QR550 for 3 is excellent...

But I always have a weakness for the beta version ;)

Baldrick I am a Lightroom 3 user myself, but have never used Paintshop. I never use Photoshop for photography (that is what Lightroom is for), but often need it for graphics. I wonder if Paintshop could replace Photoshop for me.

Jack, I have tried so hard to love Illustrator, and I just can't. CorelDraw is far more intuitive and easy to use. And now they have a 3 user license for home users (with no apparent restrictions) for around QR 550. Now that I would pay.

Face Palm..... and then the bald eagle stare... lol

Although I know Photo shop well... I never ever used it... all the slight retouching... colour/gama correction and mostly resizing of pics I needed only IrfanView which is Freeware... small in size and fast.... I love its batch resizing and rename fuction...

Never missed PS at all...

I have found out over time that a lot of freeware are as good as the priced ones...

Now what is the next one? CorelDraw or Illustrator?... well I prefer CorelDraw and use it a lot...
