The bar at the Ramada does something like a pub quiz, if that's your thing. Haven't been, but it's on my to-do list :)

Remember, ALWAYS carry your passport/Qatar ID when you go to a bar. Else, chances are they won't let you in (and don't ask why!).

And do NOT drive after drinking. Take a taxi. Without exception.

I'm new here, too. The places I've been to and liked so far are the Irish Harp (very strict about passport, photocopies won't do) at the Sheraton, the rooftop at La cigale (if a bit pricey), Wahm at the W Hotel, Paloma at the Intercontinental, Jazz Club and The Cellar, both at the Oryx Rotana.

The Irish Harp is always a sure bet, if you want lively. The others - depends more on the hour and day of the week.

Aren't shopping in the souq and walking around outdoor activities?

By Colt45• 9 Feb 2011 08:48

You said, "If you are not an outdoor person, then read, visit friends, walk aroung, go shopping". - Besides reading, aren't the rest outdoor activities?

"What more do you wanna do to burn 24 hours in a day"? - Umm go to a bar I say!!! :-P
