Metsu - Football coach

It was reported in the daily papers that the Qatar national football coach - Metsu has been sacked.

Everybody was expecting this to happen sooner than later. The irony of this incident is the coach completely responsible for a team's debacle?

A coach can be equalled to an academic teacher. It is the duty of the teacher to coach one's students. However, their performance at exams depends solely on the capability of each individual. In the event of a failure of the students - does it mean that the teacher should be sacked or replaced?

In a country like Japan if there is an accident, the first step is far the concerned minister to resign.

In this instance why is the President of the Qatar Football team not replaced by somebody new? It is solely his responsibility when he approves of someone who cannot deliver the goods.

Fortunately Qatar does not play test cricket. Because every time a test is lost there would be a change of coach.

Qatar it is time to wake up and not simply follow the follies of your neighbours.

Typical regional behavior: no patience, impulsive, dramatic, extreme and not thoughtful... just like the Saudis and look how far they went!

Not even Mourinho could have performed the miracle the Qataris were dreaming about!

Generally coaches get sacked for the teams performance. See what happened to Roy at Liverpool.

They did better than expected at the Asian cup, what debacle are you talking about?

Will that help in any way. Will that make them a better team. The coach can only do that much but then the players have to perform and the coach alone cannot be held responsible for the bad performance.

Metsu was good and he did a great job. This culture of sacking and arbitary removals stinks and does not send the right signals to the sporting world

Qatar needs to accept that they don't have the quality of players to perform up to a Japan or Australia level, of course unless they buy a squard of expats.
