Submission to Qatar Uni. as a mature student?
Hi everyone, I just recently joined this site. I have a few questions that I need help answering, and any help would be much appreciated. I've been researching Qatar, and became very intrigued by the place, and I feel its a place I would love to live in, and to attend Qatar University. I am 28 year old male, I work as a realtor, but its time for a change. I wanted to attend Qatar University, and apply to major in finance. Now my question is how likely am I to get accepted to the program as a mature student and as a international student? I have my highschool transcripts, and I also have one year of university that I attended about 5 years ago. I also have my realtor licence which required me to take 3 courses and pass 3 different exams.I'm also a canadian citizen( born in portugal). My goal would be to be accepted to the university, do my schooling in Qatar, and find a job in the finance sector in Qatar. Any info that can be provided into my inquiry would be very helpful, or if I can be directed in the right path to find my answers would be great.
thank you and hope all is well with everyone :)
people use to fire bullets in the air, regardless of knowing the ground realities! neither applied nor been to QU, but still rate it among the best universities in the world, further its upto the students what hard efforts they make to achieve their goal...
Please stop misleading people (a humble request). If you are sure about something, go ahead and advice. If not, stay away.
Teaching language is English (few courses are offered only in Arabic, concerned department will offer other courses in English as a replacement). There are a lot of native English speaking Professors. Recently the College of Business and Economics have been accredited by US-based Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (ACCSB-International), regarded as the most prestigious accreditation agency for business schools and colleges.
Qatar university offers sponsorship for international students. If you are eligible, you could enroll as a scholarship student.
As for your main query, mature student being admitted, I don't know. Hopefully you will find it in the University website

I always want one to submit to ME!!
Please refer to

It's none of my business or interest to tell this guy where or what to study, he would like to study at QU,so am sharing my humble experience and knowledge with him. I've met and worked closely with some of QU Engineering graduates and honestly I was really impressed with their technical skills and knowledge.
Infinitesimal Calculus was developed in Europe almost 400 years ago,so it would be a sin to compare European or North American universities with those in the Arab world.
Using your logic, there is no need for QU , since most of the ambitious Qataris are sent to study abroad or at the local American universities here at QF.
Have you taught or studied at QU ? if so,please share with us your experience :)
And if you really think Qatar University would be a good choice of universities can you explain why most ambitious Qataris aspire to go to university in the UK or US? Why are the American universities even here if Qatar University is so well ranked?
I know it's not PC to say it but face it: this guy is in Canada and he will get a lot farther with a Canadian degree than one from Qatar University, no offense meant.
is it okey to work with regency group? coz i was hired by them. and its my first time to go in qatar.
QU has plenty of students around your age and heaps of international students. Check the degree but there are some non-Arabic speakers studying there.
I believe the pharmaceutical department is excellent.
BTW its Admission not Submission... LOL
QU ranks 11th in the Arab world which isn't bad for a 30 years old university. Arabic is a bonus , but not a must.
QF offers scholarships for international students to study at QU, check it and good luck :)
A degree from Canada will get you a better job much faster here. Get a degree from there and then try for a job in Qatar if you are so intent on moving here.
Qatar isn't really a place that you decide you'd like to come and live in. You need a residency permit to live here and that comes with a job. Your QU degree wouldn't necessarily get you a job here after graduation. Much better to stay in Canada for your education.
Mandi
overall and in their finance program? Except for Engineering, they are pretty low in terms of international and even regional ranking.
Also, you would need to speak Arabic fluently for admissions, although my understanding is that some classes are taught in English (but rarely by native speakers).
They do accept international students (especially for studying Arabic) and it is not hard to get into the university because their admissions standards are fairly low.
