QLERS,

I am a UK national who has been working in Qatar for around a year. I am now looking to move jobs and need to know if I would be allowed under Qatari law to make the move and what will I require e.g. NOC from my original company.

Also what if they decide not to allow me to move what are my options

My contract period is indefinite.

Please I would like some advice and dont waste your time with silly/stupid sarcy comments.

as said above, you should ask for NOC in a nice way and maybe they will give you,but try avoiding getting a job in a competitor company to the one you are in now. For this I think they wont give you NOC.

Don't UK Nationals usually call themselves British citizens rather than nationals????? Wouldn't mention either these days.....

doesn't matter what national is "moving jobs".. this law is for everyone, regardless to their passports, so no need to emphasise your nationality..

Get NOC, make sure that you have completed 1 year with your sponsor, and "move your job"..:)

If you apply for a new job they will ask for NOC from your present company....

Its kind of stupid but thats the law.

Shabz - this has been discussed umpteen no. of times here. It is your sponsor's perogative to give you NOC.

Thanks Karwabas but ther is no law stating they bhave to give me an NOC. Is this on the employers discretion as I feel my manager will not be happy.

you will need NOC from ur company so that everything will be legal. if they refuse to give you NOC, it means you need to stay with them, otherwise, you need to go back to UK, just ask NOC in a nice way, i think everything will be fine. goodluck.
