There was only 1 player in the Indian Team... The Goal Keeper - Subrato Paul. The rest were as good as college kids.
How many shots they aimed wide off the Aussie goal?
Indian Football really a long way to go. I was following the match closely on Telly, was hoping Bhutia would step in.
Could hear the crowd so loud on telly it was almost like India v/s Aussie Cricket match.
And AlJazeera are one stupid channel... how many Arabic channel telecast they need of the same match and not a single one in English? Somebody got to tell them that they telecast the tournament to the world and not only in GCC.
I could be wrong, but I don't think that was the scenario because I had friends outside the stadium, who were willing to pay even QAR100 for a ticket, but they didn't get any and had to settle to watching it on TV :-(
Yeah I thought about #2 as well... I mean really, wtf was he thinking? :-(
I heard about there being plenty vacant seats and no tickets for plenty supporters who were outside the stadium, it's just sad that the sponsors didn't make good use of their share of tickets :-(
The atmosphere inside was very good. There were many empty seats though. The Aussie fans were only a few dozen yet it was their side that got the goals and the three points.Even though India lost yesterday,it was a good and brave contest that they put up.Congratulations to Australia and well done India.I hope they do well in their next match INSHAALLAH.
Britex you are absolutely right India lost because this 'Climax' came too early! After that it was hard to stand up to the Aussies. So they played softies!
I hope they don't mind whilst I run around my lounge naked with a pineapple as a hat lol!
Why oh why, if there were empty seats- why were they not offered to workers who could not afford seats and would have so appreciated a night like that! Bloody awful.
Not true Britepat - they won the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 which they hosted, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_AFC_Challenge_Cup which is specially designated to give some of weaker Asian teams a spot in the Asian Cup. North Korea won it in 2010 so they've also qualified.
That was sad. Tickets should have been given away (I think) to people who could not afford them, i.e the Indian labourers. It would have been a fanastic thing for them.
Glad the atmosphere was good though.
It was sad that one lost, but as I said before; Australia perhaps needed a win to make up for The Ashes.
In cricket, India v Australia would be a good contest...in football, I suspect not. I fear a bit of a drubbing on the cards - if that is the case I hope India dont lose heart - there are 2 more group games for them and I think Australia are in all probability the best team India will ever have faced competitively. Good luck to them - one thing is for sure, there will be no lack of support for them today at Al Sadd!!!!
Football is not a sport India is good at. So wont be shocked or upset at a loss. But am keeping fingers crossed and if its a loss, I just hope it wont be a humiliating one. :-)
Bhutia isn't involved in today's match or he is he? if he isn't,then the Indians won't have anybody to play up front in attack.Rather they will dance the Dandiya and play the Dholak in the pitch! ;) (just bieng light hearted,no offense meant, with all due respect to all Indians here)
I was just being a li'l prick with that negativity/ sarcasm. Yeah, you're right on that one, everything is possible in football and I do hope the Indians kick some Aussie ass :-P
Colt well said!.But there's one thing,in football anything is possible. There is going to be a huge Indian support in the stadium and the atmosphere will be good. You could join us if you want! :)
Colt major upsets have occurred in football, whether domestically or internationally. Many people do not fancy India's chances in this championship but we have take them seriously. They didn't come here for an exibition match.
I don't think that will be the case Mr. M... I think the Indians by the end of the 1st 45, will be kaput, they may need another set of 11 to play the 2nd 45 :-P
I heard the same as well.Baichung won't be playing today. The Australians are tough and play agressive football, but India could create one of the biggest upsets in recent football history.Remember they have the biggest support here as well so that should be a huge boost.

That's a shame..
Perhaps the organisers need to look into this issue..
I could be wrong, but I don't think that was the scenario because I had friends outside the stadium, who were willing to pay even QAR100 for a ticket, but they didn't get any and had to settle to watching it on TV :-(
you can see them in QL also Brit.
On Friday I believe the stadium will be full.
perhaps people bought tickets with a view to reselling them at a profit.. But didn't succeed.. Leaving some seats empty.
Yeah I thought about #2 as well... I mean really, wtf was he thinking? :-(
I heard about there being plenty vacant seats and no tickets for plenty supporters who were outside the stadium, it's just sad that the sponsors didn't make good use of their share of tickets :-(
Two other things of concern.
1. Harry Kewel actually playing a game.
2. The Indian keeper wearing tights.

For goodness sake . I am having my dinner of steak and kidney pudding ...
Glad your Aussie mates are not bothered!
I hope they don't mind whilst I run around my lounge naked with a pineapple as a hat lol!
Why oh why, if there were empty seats- why were they not offered to workers who could not afford seats and would have so appreciated a night like that! Bloody awful.
I am planning to get the tickets.. i didnt get. ;-)
The theory is that the Challenge cup is a non event ;)
Not true Britepat - they won the AFC Challenge Cup in 2008 which they hosted, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2008_AFC_Challenge_Cup which is specially designated to give some of weaker Asian teams a spot in the Asian Cup. North Korea won it in 2010 so they've also qualified.
Lol brit, they won the AFC challenge cup to get here.. Will someone tell CNN that..
Lol Isobel the Ashes loss still hurts.. Sitting here with two Aussie guys and they are not interested in the Ashes at all.. lol..
There were many people outside the stadium looking for tickets and were disappointed and yet there were empty seats inside which was sad...
The organisers were so keen to get India here that they gave them a bye into the tournament - as per CNN
Isobel the tickets weren't available before the game and yet there were empty seats.. Something wasn't right.. Could easily have been houseful..
The atmosphere inside was great though, much better than even Brazil vs Argentina held here recently...
this game would be the most packed. Shocked at that.
Perhaps it is too early in the contest to allow people off work to support their country.
TC, it's strange that you were not knowing about INDIAN FOOTBALL team...now don't say we don't have even HOCKEY TEAM..lol
yes brit... There were many empty seats... Around 20 % I reckon...
The tickets were sold out but the stadium was not full.
Bad- India losing
Worse- Losing by 4 goals
Worst- Entering the stadium and finding out that flan has got tickets right next to you :(
I will bow to your knowledge on that one. I don't have a clue really, just offering an answer :-)
Australia play in Asia because they don't have any worthwhile opposition in Asiana group ..
who won by margin, anybody to give updates, i missed the match :(
india has a football team????????? If someone will say ..Pakistan has it too...I will have a heart attack!!!
Is it classified as Asian because it is the Southern Hemisphere?
Its a conspiracy to stop the Asians from winning :O(
4-0
@ vkdxb.... because (A)u(S)tral(I)(A) = ASIA
=P
only in Asian Football Australia become part of asia!
Australians are not in ASIA how come they are included in ASIA CUP

34 min old troll, just another coward.
The match begins at 4.15.
...i told you!! india will win! they smell too bad, that's why ausies have no match for indians!
Okies LP...

Any TV Telecast of this match today?
India will win this match, ausie's will get distracted during the game due to the indians natural odor! hehehe
The Socceroos should win
Lol Colt... Yeah... would have had to walk a mile...
Are they telecasting it on TV?
Aussie, Aussie ,Aussie Oi Oi Oi !!!!! Im their next door neighbour ! Wish NZ play today but not part of Asia !!!
Believe it or not.. Channel 4 in UK used to show Female Kabbadi.. I think the Eastern Railway team were the best :O)
However, with FS , Tinkerbell and Soniya in the Doha team ...........
all tickets are sold out :(
In cricket, India v Australia would be a good contest...in football, I suspect not. I fear a bit of a drubbing on the cards - if that is the case I hope India dont lose heart - there are 2 more group games for them and I think Australia are in all probability the best team India will ever have faced competitively. India to lose 1-0
Anyone with tickets that doesn't want/need them let me know, I'll buy them off ya!
I think you need to contact Tinker and FS to check for local female kabbadi :-P
I like watching female kabbadi ...
Is there a local tournament ?
Football is not a sport India is good at. So wont be shocked or upset at a loss. But am keeping fingers crossed and if its a loss, I just hope it wont be a humiliating one. :-)
I miss our I.M vijayan for today's game.......
anyways you would have to walk a mile, the parking is a li'l way off to the stadium :-P
I would have walked a mile to see Bhutia play...
Since he isnt there I will skip this one...
Damn that timings are also a little too early :(
Its by default, and currently I am residing in Qatar and
i am identifying my residence
Bhutia isn't involved in today's match or he is he? if he isn't,then the Indians won't have anybody to play up front in attack.Rather they will dance the Dandiya and play the Dholak in the pitch! ;) (just bieng light hearted,no offense meant, with all due respect to all Indians here)
something different from cricket, hockey and kabbadi....
I would love to see the sub-continent nations into WC finals.....
my bet is India winning 1-0 or 2-1 :)
I was just being a li'l prick with that negativity/ sarcasm. Yeah, you're right on that one, everything is possible in football and I do hope the Indians kick some Aussie ass :-P
Game On ya Kangaroos!!! :-P
Colt well said!.But there's one thing,in football anything is possible. There is going to be a huge Indian support in the stadium and the atmosphere will be good. You could join us if you want! :)
They're here to tour Qatar, the weather is great buddy... and also get a feel of the place... job opportunities will be abundant soon :-P
Colt major upsets have occurred in football, whether domestically or internationally. Many people do not fancy India's chances in this championship but we have take them seriously. They didn't come here for an exibition match.
If you're Indian, why is your nationality on your profile - Qatar?
India is not very good in football and some good players are injured so chances to win are very few.
Being an Indian I support our national team for their win. BEST OF LUCK - INDIA
And I thought Baichung was injured and ruled out for the 1st two games? :-(
Game on ya kangaroos... :-P
Yes Brit I am.. Will have to sneak out of office early though
i heard of china imported indian nepalese playing in team, is that true????
GOOD LUCK INDIA
Jacko yes he is in.
Best of Luck today
hope sardarji wont bother taking the ball to opponents side,
expect amazing!
Are you going to the match ?
I hear rumours that FS and Tinkerbell will be Cheerleading ..
Would Baichung be playing for India?
WK on that ..
expect upsets...
India to win by 2-1 with Sunil Chhetri scoring both the goals :-P
Australia have lost to Egypt recently, but I take them to wine 2-0..
2 to 3 acceptable...
Yes.. to loose 3-0 :)
