I am a male nurse who is about to take the prometric exam here in the Phils. (cost 200$) and my way to get a visa as told by my agency is to pass that said exam. being offered with 2200QR + 300Qr food allowance and free accomodation with 2 years contract. along with that is a placement fee of 35kPhp.. Is it worth it? Cause after seeing all the answered forums here make me think that the cost of living there is too much high as expected.. and they also said that i can reimbursed the prometric fee once i get there and started to work.. any feedbacks, thoughts and concerns will be gladly appreciated..

QR2200 although far behind from the salary of those who are employed in tertiary hospitals, it is the normal rate for nurses in polyclinics here in Doha.

QR300 food allowance is not enough though. I don't even know why it's called food allowance anyway. To be more realistic you are going to receive QR2500/month salary and you have to allot a budget for your existence.

Make sure that both accommodation and transportation will be provided.

I have friends who works in Apollo Clinic, Future Medical Center and 2 more clinics in Doha in the same roof.

Nurses hired in the Philippines has to take the Qatar nurses' exam which the fees are being shouldered by company. Once the nurse reach Doha, the company deducts QR500/month from their salary until such time the amount spent for the license is paid. Penalty for a "misconduct" is also deducted and others. So just imagine how much is left to their salary.

Your future will also be trapped for two to three long years.

Bochog83,Have some reservation. Think twice before you sign the contract. QR2200 as basic is peanuts here my friend. QR300 food allowance is not enough for one month expenses as the price of every necessity is way up high than the tallest structure here. My advise try Japan, Europe or USA. Don't waste your time otherwise you'll lose the bochog in you and end up like a butiki.
