Policy favours hiring married expat workers
DOHA: Qatar’s new population policy framed in late 2009 lays emphasis on employers recruiting more of married foreign workers than unmarried ones so that they can sponsor their families at some point of time.
This, according to Qatari demographic policy planners, would make sure that at least those freshly-hired workers who are in a position to bring their families here can do so.

I hope, the MODs would be kind enough to move this thread to the "Funnies" :P
What an idea sirji!!! lol stupidity is not a crime too
total nonsense!
for the peanuts they pay ...those men can only bring monkeys and not family!! and in that article there is not a word about paying them adequately...
The issues addressed in the article is a soup of different flavors. I do not understand what the society gains when they use the wives of foreign workers to correct the imbalance of the male/female ratio.
This subject was raised many times as a local issue, had to do with lack of male/female imbalance of nationals, and how that effects the ratio of women who are yet to be married.
Accordingly, there are two issues, and people should keep them so. Social engineering is not intended for transient work force, rather for nationals.
Makes no sense at all...
The male/female imbalance is mainly due to the high number of labourers in the country.
It is one thing to allow workers to bring their families. However, if they cannot afford to provide adequate housing, schooling, transport for their family, then other issues come into play..
