The future I see
I am not a future teller but what I could imagine going to happen (in real-time) in near future, say in next 20-100 years, listed here. Remarks invited from all (from ever sanguines to perennial sadists too)-
1. Aviation :
Post revolution in communication, next is aviation. I could foresee drastic changes in aviation techniques and mobility. Current stream of jets will be wiped out with speedier planes with minimum speed in range of 10,000 KMPH and more instead of current 1000 Kmph ones. Space travel technology to be used for commoners with more advancement. Travel time, will be reduced to minutes.
2.World political system
in near future there will be a world/universal government system with representation by all nations as members (not by population else China & India will have its alternate Presidents!). Basic governing rules will be same for ALL while local traditions/personal belief system will be individual’s choice within a governing framework. Government selection process shall be based on a unique point system based on population, economics, size, etc etc etc.
3.Communications:
it’s already in high strata of development but next level (10.0G) shall be kind of universal communicators with free for all to locate, talk and see anyone, everyone in real-time.
4.Free Energy
energy will be free to all. Sources shall be- first, obtained by water and later by environment. (once water itself becomes scarcity).
5.Free Food:
basic food shall be free to all in new regime with GM food technologies.
6.People will die young:
Yep, because there will be cure for all diseases and people will remain youthful as per their wish however death will, then even, be inescapable. Being and looking old shall be an exciting fashion.
7.People movement:
There will be two types of people movement, One by flying cars for medium distances, and two, by speedier walking with chip fitted mechanism in human itself.
8.Home Support:
Robotics shall be developed to the level of human-like battery operated butlers.
9.Fun Time:
With a price people will travel into time machines in different ages. History will not be taught but will be shown. The major tourism will be travelling to nearest planets. Not to mention, there will be pleasure islands on Moon (that’s not future forecast but a real-time happening in years ahead)
10. WARs:
There will be a world war in near future, for sure, which will settle all current turbulences and will then free human beings for next level of development. Other next wars will be highly sophisticated but will happen with people from other planets.
11.Tigers, Elephants and many other such species will be, instead being in zoo (as of now), will be monumented in museums.

13. QL :
Only one thing will remain same is QL !!! in its current format and people will, then too, get time to ‘condemn, criticize & complain’ to all and sundry.

I think your information is out of date..
Saudi Arabia has severely reduced subsidies on wheat and milk and also raised the price of petrol locally in the last two years.
They tried to become self sufficient in Wheat production and then discovered that the irrigation costs were too high and there water table had been hugely depleted.

Imagine Arabia of before 70's, no one could even thought of wht would be happening in 2010. free electricity and subsidies food (no levies etc) is on offer to residents...may be if they prosper more ,they may make it free.
yes agreed, no free lunches but there will be other avenues of getting revenues, possibly from planetary tourism etc etc.
GM technology is in adolescent stage , now, but once advanced, thats only way to solve food scarcity and I think this may happen in very near future….yes I agree currently there are serious issues with GM tech, like BT cotton/brinjal

There is always a cost to producing and delivering energy. That cost has to be met by someone - The consumer..
We have already seen that GM food technologies can have an adverse affect on the environment and people - As in Bangladesh.
