And so on, and so forth...lol
nomerci,
Sorry, didn't know that this was your personal website…lol ;)
You should know better that in a public forum, you'll always encounter the compliants, the complainers and all kinds of variations in between. All of them have a voice because it’s a public forum.
Some of us are having a blast here in Qatar (I am one of the lucky ones), some of us couldn’t care less if things need to be improved or not or if there are certain groups of people that are not as lucky as we are.
Some of us would prefer that no one would talk about these issues as they cause discomfort and it disturbs our perfect cozy world.
Others care and believe that exposing the areas for improvement will serve as awareness for those who either don't or can't express their views here and will trigger reactions that may lead to improvements!
It happens my dear that we are in Qatar. If we were in Canada, UK or elsewhere, you would have to face these annoying complainers who believe that their complaints will eventually lead to change. These come in several forms and shapes, from the aggressive activists to the mere website casual commentators. All of them eventually may generate change, but never those who selfishly prefer that things remain as they are and not only keep silent but attempt to silence others.
If you pay more attention to my complaints, you'll realize that I am not asking anything for myself. As I said before, I am pretty much happy here. What I usually annoy you about, is asking improvements for the country and for those who usually don’t have a voice (laborers and maids).
Last but not least, please do not attempt shutting any voice in a public forum in the name of your personal mood. That’s not appropriate for a person of your great value, which I perceive and respect.
For what it concerns me, you are forgiven as I understand that we all loose control now and then.
For now, I shall spare you of more complains, as we are about to depart to a white Christmas far away from QL.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year
;)
genesis,
mission accomplished, thanks ;)
Oh for God's sake. All this bickering , complaining . It is really getting to me, sorry to say. But after the threads and comments on this Football thing and now the National Day, I am losing my cool.
We all know how things are here. And no matter how much some complain, that will not change much. There. And quite frankly, I could not care less.As apparently can't a myriad of others.
Can we just put up with how things are run here? Please? Do we really need to constantly point fingers and put our pointy noses into things?
Maybe those who feel the urgent need can do this somewhere else? Maybe? (I am still hoping...)
So, there is apparently info out about the National Day events. I suppose those who want to attend can make a little effort to find it non?
the website is up & running

spare us the melodrama...and get over yourself already ;)
Mihode,
I have been here for 4 years and when it comes to organizing and promoting public events, Qatar constantly displays its incompetences.
for these occasions, not only is important to inform the public of the "what's", "when's" "who's" and "how's" but also to study traffic diversions and publicly announce them with some time ahead so people can be well prepared.
Instead, year after year we face chaos.
Last year it got out of control, causing some local newspapers complaining about expats who complained in this website about the horrible out of control chaos on the national day!
Has anybody learn and improve anything?
It doesn’t seem like!
There is one website working - ndqatar.net - but only in arabic. Nice service to the Expat comunity...
Genesis,
I just tried to access the NDQatar site and got this:
Server Error in '/' Application.
genesis,
its obvious not effective, something has to change in the communication/pr abilities displayed by Qatar, otherwise, you'll always see me here point out the failure ;)
how much would it cost those in charge of the promotion to publish the program in several mediums (press, TV, pamphlets why not?), etc...
I still defend that Qatar needs urgently a local English TV channel, something like Dubai-one in Dubai. that would be a great way in informing the masses and even educating them... the suggestion is left here, please bring forward if you can.
NDQatar website have been active since the first of December, with event listings and interactive map. In addition detail description of each activity. Not to mention, they're active also on Facebook, flicker & twitter with live updates and pictures.
check who are, where they come from this incompetent staff of Peninsula & Gulf Times.
see how many hybrid busses coming out of light sphere! :b
so bachelors are banned again during the national Day celebration? :P
Pathetic. Enough Said.
LOL... so many typical things of Qatar:
1 - Careless press: wrong picture illustrating the wrong article;
2 - Mowasalat will deploy about a dozen buses around the Corniche on the National Day to transport people to venues where the day’s events will take place. - Where are the events taking place? What are these events? When are these events taking place? - Qatari communication skills on its best!
3 - “We have just got the two hybrid buses and the registration procedures are currently underway. These buses will be used to transport women and families on the National Day,” - Qatari discrimination policies on display on their national day!
