By Aisha

It was aired on Qatari TVs right after the announcement of Qatar 2022 :-) I translated the lyrics for you guys. Sorry It's my first video and my first literary translation too.anywayyy,Get your swords alreadyyy and join the Arda :-)

Poet and performer: Khalil Ebrahim Al Shabrami Al Tamimi
Who managed in Abu Dhabi, 2008 to make Qatar keep the "Flag of Poetry" (on a popular Arab native Bedouin poetry TV show) for the second year on a row (After Muhammad Bin Ftais Al Marri won the title on season 1)

Keep on rising, keep on rising
Above the stars of Taurus, of Capricorn..
Well done, well done
That's what Qatar does.
You Doha of high glory
Made the entire world stand still
As the announcer is announcing:
Qatar wins.
Qatar wins!
Hard work brings its worth, home
And for sure,he who sows reaps
The second of December is a witness to it.
Congratulations State of Qatar!
It is by grace of Lord of all creatures
That we reaped miracles
That we keep going with determination and persistence
So that we see you in Qatar
In the land of Hamad, son of Thani
In the land of Hamad, brother of Roudha
In the land of Hamad, father of Meshal
You are welcome!
You are welcome in Qatar!

Do you think the respect for women declined from that time you are referring to. And do you feel it is on the rise again with HH Sheikha Mozah leading the charge?

By Aisha• 3 Dec 2010 18:00
Aisha

If you wonder about Roudha.. Well she was a smart strong women that Althanis are proud of.

She was the eldest daughter of Shiekh Jassim bin Muhammed Althani.

Women in the past did have a great role in the society. Althanis are referred to as Brothers of Rodha when praised, Alsaoods in KSA are Brothers of Nora,

Alsabahs in Kuwait are Brothers of Mariam.. And so on in the Arabian gulf region. All these great women were highly respected in those societies that men are nicknamed after them!
