Salary expectations
Hi all
I have an interview at Qatar Airways next week, they have asked me to come with salary expectations in mind...so I was hoping to get some guidance from you all.
The package is by and large made up of basic salary + housing allowance + transportation allowance.
The interview is for a role in their Corporate Planning department - I actually don't know the role as I believe it is for a new area that is being set up.
I have 6 years of airline experience in the UK (Engineering, Ops and Commercial Strategy)and first class hons degree in Engineering.
Basic Salary:
Any ideas on the kind of premium I could expect when compared to a UK salary? (equivelant role in the UK i'm guessing is c. 45K GBP gross). I understand there is no employment tax - are there any other taxes to pay?
Housing Allowance:
What levels could I expect for a 1 bed furnished appartment in a decent area (any recommendations on areas to stay - ideally not to far from the Qatar Airways HQ)? What is the current approx rental rates?
Transportation allowance:
How much could I expect?
Others:
What is 'the norm' for pensions, medical cover etc? (covered by company?)
Many thanks for your help.
Vish.
Thanks!
Just to clarify 'matched' QR figure is as a whole package? (i.e. salary, house and transport allowance?). Or just the basics?
Cheers
I hope all are bc with BID 2022,so wait until tomorrow.
Basic rule of thumb:
Take your annual salary in GBP - this figure should be your monthly salary in QAR to be worthwhile. i.e. GBP45k/year you'll need QAR45k/month to match it.
As to expenditure drastically changing, that is pure speculation.
Basic salary - you have to decide - no idea!
House rent - 2 bedroom, fully furnished, normal appartment - 6000 QR per month- It can go up to 20,000 QR per month for high class stuff. So, you can decide.
Transportation: a Camry could be something around 2000 QR per month, if you pay back in three years. (this is approximate). If company provides a car, then better for you.
and that is something to consider. I think salary increases will affect only a very small percentage of mostly highly qualified consultants related to the staging of the wC itself. For the rest, as usual Qatar will hire the cheapest labour available (and why shouldn't they). We could start seeing more Burmese and Cambodians labourers.
Of course, inflation affecting expenses will affect all of us and I can't wait to hear the complaining ;)
Wait fr de results ..as everythng shall change on dat one result :P
part wait for today evening, and if Qatar is host for 2022 world cup, then the expenditure part changes drastically, so one can answer this question tomorrow only.
