WHAT KIND OF SHOPPER ARE YOU

So I'm a shopgirl in Qatar...been working here for a few years now....I am so amazed at different nationalities and attitudes of shoppers in this country....
Let me enumerate some of the dumbest questions I have ever encountered:

- Shoppers asking ''How much is this?'' while pointing at the price tag of the item.
- Asking ''what color is this?'' while looking at a red cellphone or mp3 player.
- Those who doesnt know what ''out of stock'' means and proceed to asking '' no? nothing in the whole shop?'' what do they think? We are hiding the items so that they cant buy it? LOLS
- "Returners" Ones who return items just coz "I dont like it" and say "In Europe, In my country etc I can return things even after a year" yea right but apparently it doesnt work that way here and its not even the salesman's fault. *
Merchandise are purchased or consigned here from distributors and not from the manufacturers. And is often under certain terms that doesnt cover accepting returned "opened items". But hey youre a customer so you just yell at the salesman, belittling him, to get what you want. For all we know, the shopper just overspent on his monthly budget and is running out of money to pay for his/rent. LOLS
- Those who claims warranty but doesnt keep the receipt or proof of purchase or warranty card. " I bought it here check your system" if it was possible, it would have been done. If a salesman try to explain how its done in his shop he gets a wave of hand, dismising him he might as well have been talking to a post.
How else would you claim ownership of your TV, Laptop, Shoes, Watch, etc if you dont have any proof you have purchased it. One can say their personal details are there, so what? So now may we accuse you of stealing it from someone who has a receipt of the exactly same model?

Lots more to follow, sleepy for now...shopgirl out! ^^,

Hmmm and i thought i was the only one that always wanted to buy something and it was always "out of stock" I see we have a lot of people suffering from outofstock syndrome.

I do however agree there are customers that seriously have this mentality that they walk into a store and they own the place and the people that work there. Sometimes if you speak to the sales people decently i find that you get decent service from them as well.

Looking at things from their perspective they have to deal with all kinds of idiots all day long, everyday...how many times do we get pissed off with such kind of people in our own offices? Imagine them having to deal with different kinds of such people on a daily basis.

That being said...how much discount can we QL'er expect on whatever you are selling? :P

A typical salesgirl in Qatar.

Did you really have to post this here?

Tell me which shop you work in, I will start a campaign advising everyone to stay away from your shop and not to disturb your leisure by asking you any questions.

Customers asking questions????? Oh the horror!!!!!!

I agree with qatarisun on the third one, more often than not, they would tell you "we're out of stock", without even bothering to check if they really don't have it, then turns out, they have it in stock..

Being not able to pull a record of sale without the customer's receipt is too retarded. Like common WHO HIDES their receipts? Are we supposed to have a cabinet sorted by date then shop then item for receipts?

Often people pay using Credit cards or bank Cards ( usually ) so matching the card number should not be rocket science.

You are right on most of what you mentioned, it is full of idiots but honestly you should see the level of stupidity some sales people have in here.. if you are selling something, you gotta know all about it!

In the last year, after i live here now, I became so skeptical about ANYTHING I hear.. I like do not believe no person in here anyways lol.. So i don't even ask sales people no more questions.

Shoppers asking ''How much is this?'' while pointing at the price tag of the item - this might be during the sale campaign, and the customer wants to know whether the tag indicates the original price and the discount will be given, or it is a final price after discount... nothing wrong with that.

- Asking ''what color is this?'' while looking at a red cellphone or mp3 player - maybe they want to know exact color name as per catalog.

- Those who doesnt know what ''out of stock'' means and proceed to asking '' no? nothing in the whole shop?'' what do they think? We are hiding the items so that they cant buy it? - don't even start with me on this one

How many times i heard, this is out of stock, and finally the item was found in storage. Or even better, right at the showroom! Once I was looking for small cabinet with 3 drawers. I pointed on some cabinet at the showroom, and asked the sales person, if they have something like that, but made of metal and smaller. The quick answer was : No!. I made two steps, and run into the cabinet that I was exactly looking for, as per my description to the salesman. I asked him: and what is that? He looked at it surprisingly, and said quietly: this is the last piece. I turn my head, and saw another "last piece", and another one.. So I just do not trust to the salesperson when he/she says it is out of stock. I think it is unprofessional, and simply because the salesman is lazy to go and check it in the storage. So no "LOLS" here as well..

In general, sales people are so much incompetent and unprofessional in Qatar, that it’s even funny to start such thread. They have no clue about what do they sell, about their products’ specifications, availability. Sometimes they give you such silly answers, that you are not sure how to react. The CUSTOMERS are the ones who supposed to “LOLS” at the salesmen in Qatar, not other way around.

I just felt that the 'overspent on his monthly budget' signified a real prejudice on your behalf, and would stop you giving the customer impartial treatment.

I hate people who shout at shop assistants, it is not their job to decide store policy, It just sounded like you are deciding what is, and isn't, another persons reason to want a refund.

I never mentioned that I disagree with the consumer rights, I am a customer myself and would return an item anyday if something's not right, within reason of course....

Pardon me for not elaborating about the "returners". We do have a fair exchange policy and would accept merchandise, exchange or refund it under certain conditions. But the ones I am talking about are those who would come back after a month with items in unsellable conditions ie,damage box, worn out items..and often not accompanied by a receipt or anything that remotely resembles it....

Thanks for calling me stupid, people are so polite here! ^^^^^^

The longer you stay in qatar the more you become stupid.

So you disagree with a consumer right that allows you to return an item you are dissatisfied with, based on you thinking they can't pay the rent?

If you had spent on something that did not meet your expectation, do you not think it is within your rights to not be lumbered with that product for life?

Okay, yes, a year later is stupid. But within 30/60 days, a person should be able to return the product in a perfect (preferably unopened) state, for a full refund or at least store credit.

It is not up to the customer where the item came from, just the store's responsibility to have a decent and fair returns policy.

Seems you are as stupid as some of your customers.
