Flying out of Qatar - change of surname in renewed passport while visa and RP are not updated

I and my wife have a concern and we are hoping to receive some advice/sharing of same experience from you. We are working with the same company (our sponsor) here in Qatar. My wife recently renewed her passport from single to married hence there was a change in her surname. As of date, her visa (in the previously cancelled passport)and RP are not updated. Our company PRO informed us that the change in visa and RP would take around 2 months. My wife will have a training outside qatar this November. Will there be a conflict with the immigration in Qatar (going out/returning) and the other country's since her new passport name is different from her visa name? Thank you!

Hi all,

We went to Bahrain last week. My wife was able to pass through Qatar immigration. She was only advised to change her visa afterwards. When we came back, the immigration personnel had written something in arabic in her new passport. We had it translated in English and it says that the visa is in the old passport.

Again, thank you very much for the replies.

All the best!

I dont know much about the Passport of Philippines. I think your wife should have received a completely new passport with the new name and the RP is still in the old Passport. You can attach the old Passport which they would have cancelled except the RP page with the new passport and can travel without any problem as you are keeping the proof that the name has been changed and the RP is still in the old Passport.

There wont be an issue, as long as her visa is valid, while at the immigration they use the Qatar ID no. not names, if they notice change in name, all they would ask you is to get a new RP on your passport with the changed name, no other issues. Something similar did happen, so I know the procedure.

I would not take that risk. There is no record on the Qatari computers that your wife (with her new name) have a valid visa or RP. And I doubt that the airport immigration staff are authorized to make a link between the two passports based on the photo only.
