Factory Unlocked or Not???

I bought New Iphone 4 (CE 0682)from UK, person who buy for me said it is factory Unlocked...but when i tried to registered with ITune error is " The Sim Card inserted in this Iphone doed not appear to be supported" is it locked phone or my SIM card is still not Activated...its a New Sim from Vodafone...Pls guys help me out.

I dont have any one having micro sim...

insert the sim card in any other phone and if u get the same msg then the sim is not yet activated but if u don't get the same error then the phone is not factory unlock
