Canadian Permanent Resident Package?
By calgary_IT •
I am going for an interview with QP for Senior IT position but confused about something. I know the total package is different for somebody with Canadian passport vs south asian passport. I am married and have an infant.
I am Permanent resident of Canada with annual income of 130K and will be getting my canadian passport in next 3-4 months. But for now I have a south asian passport. Will they give me Canadian package or south asian package if selected?
Any help would be appreciated!!
hyrcania What about green eyes?
You have to have blue eyes ...fair skin mate.....sorry to say that.
I have no doubt that you may know your job than some ppl from west, but when it comes to the interview and the job, you just can't compete!!....
You know here, anyone with the blue eyes and fair hair automatically knows more!.....Your canadian passport is good in Canada and perhaps to some degree makes life easier for you in Qatar.
Good luck
wait for candian
wait for candian passport these asian countries passports are worth shit
"Is the move to Qatar worth it?" - That is purely relative. If you can wrap your head around or away from some eccentricities, you will find Q to be quite an interesting place. If you love nature, flora is severely limited and most of the fauna is marine. You can forget about the long drives so common in the US & Canada, unless you intend to drive down to KSA, Bahrain & the UAE (which I am sure could be fun). It is a very safe place. It is very well connected globally by air, etc. etc. Respect the culture and take the best from it.
Regarding Canadian taxes, all you need to do is search here on QL and you will find a number of useful discussions and information. Links to a few:

From what I understand you have to cut all ties with the country in order to maintain a non-resident status to avoid paying taxes. It *could* still be your duty to file tax returns each year for all income earned abroad. After having gone through with the immigration & naturalization process just recently, are you sure you want to cut ties.
Organizations like QP are no longer what they used to be 5-10 years ago. They are quite selective these days. You could get lucky and be offered a "Western-Passport-Holder-but-Asian-Origin" package, that may be higher than "Asian-Passport-Holder" package.
With regard to remuneration for a specific job description, there is nothing set in stone (not in QP, not anywhere in this region). The compensation varies wildly and depends on a lot of other factors including passport/nationality etc. At this early stage all you and others can do is speculate the outcome.
My suggestion would be to focus on issues like taxes, perceived and actual savings at both places, work culture, job satisfaction, future plans for your career, etc.
making 130 K Canadian dollars in IT if you are working in Calgary unless you have your own company.
why don't you wait for your passport first? you can still edit your information after getting your passport after that your salary will be automatically double.
u can edit and type double post .. and caps off plz
SORRY FOR POSTING TWICE
nationality is a big issue here in the ME. A western passport holder will get more salary then a south Asian passport holder.
starnge but true but as told before you should decide what they have already offered you to accept or refuse i do not think you can argue with them

DNA really counts here If you are of south asian descent and carry a western passport then you will be offered a package higher than a south asian, but lower than an original Westerner. it's strange world over here pal.
holding western passports does not bring more output at work. the passport can not change one's set of skills. for the second time, I am seeing an email of this type in QL. People migrate to western coutnries to get passport and come back to GCC for better salaries. this trend is gone now and GCC employe know better that Europ and Americas in trouble.
Thanks Ace. So far the only good reply I have got. Why would I have to pay taxes if I take my family along and sell the house? I think I will Non-Resident then?
Lets say they only match it and I don't pay taxes then won't it be worth?
Your current pay is very good. If at all QP manages to match or top it (which I doubt they will...and we are just talking about Basic pay), it may not be worth all the hassle relocating to Q. Being a PR of Canada, you will still have to pay taxes.
For future reference, don't worry too much about western vs asian pay packages. Even in the best of places around the world you may not get what you are actually worth. Times are different...it is fortunate that you have a choice. Hold on to what you know for sure is good, be it back in Canada or here in Q.
as far as i know, they will offer you asian package. Your permanent residence does not matter. Try to negotiate during your interview but chances are slim due to slum in job market.
Best of luck anyways.
whats this you are discussing with these people?
Even i want to go to canada, what do i do? how to get job?
friends please help me with this material
India
for sure the 130K annual income you have now will not topple the QP package offer. They will offer you for less. Thats a decent income already. But I'am little confused on what you've said. You have a permanent residence in canada but with asian passport, and you are waiting for your canadian passport....??? what is your nationality?
If they get rid of people like you then they will follow this philosophy
I haven't become a different person and I don't think the employement practices in Qatar work with the same philosophy.
where is this happening? can i apply too? i'm an indian national with 6 yrs of experience in sales. currently working in qatar
Have you become a different person by holding another passport?
You either accept the offer or not. Nationality doesn't come into it.
Why don't you stay in Canada and give something back to a country that is granting you citizenship?
