bring the birth certificate and passport to the immigration dept in madinat khalifa, you'll have to sign some forms there (there are portacabins for typing there, just pay QR10), then go to building no. 2 for processing. we did it for only 10 mins. don't forget to bring your ATM for payment. we did pay QR580 riyals then, if i remember it right. :)

Panka's comment down is more complete. :))

1. take ur passport copy,ur visa copy, ur id copy, baby immunizatin card, marriage certificate, ur husband passport copy to health department (near firebrigade roundabout opposite to petrol pump)to get baby birthcertiifcate in arabic language or woman hospital to get birth certificate in english. you will get 3-4 days.they will give one original + copies depends how much you want.each copy 20 QR. ask for 5-6 copies.

2.take all these relevant copies along with 2 baby photographs & birthcertificate copy to your embassy for passport & birth registration in ur country. you will get with in week.

3. go to immigration department. typist will the form. paste photographs of ur baby (background in blue - i hope so) go to building no 2. first get toek number & then signatute from police or CID personnal on application form (sitting in the last seat)& thenafter wait for ur turn. 400 QR for one year. if you delay after 2 months then 10 QR per day fine.
