I know what rangoli is. So I only advised what not to draw while making rangoli in Doha.

I have been to some fine floral design competitions.

By edifis• 16 Aug 2010 19:37

The rangoli should not depict semi clad/nude goddesses and there should be no caricatures of any prophets.

There is no festival called Rangoli, it's Diwali or some other festivals wherein the people draw Rangoli. It's pretty much like how Catholics make a star for Xmas.

And NO, not all Indians make Rangoli.

As you would have noticed already except for one or two none has ever put any rangoli here... also who has put it and had no issues doesnt mean you may not get into one...all depends on your neighbourhood...better would be run a trial by making one any of these days, a small one and see the reaction...if nothing goes wrong well you are then OK with it on your festival day.

Rangoli, also known as Alpana, Kolam and by other names is a traditional art of decorating courtyards and walls of Indian houses, places of worship and sometimes eating places as well. The powder of white stone, lime, rice flour and other paste is used to draw intricate and ritual designs.
