GF looking for nurse job, regional travel

Hi all,

So I've just picked up a good job in Doha and start in 3 weeks, but the Australian GF is having trouble finding work in Doha as a nurse. It appears that most if not all nursing positions go to Asian or Indian nurses on a low salary.

Her options are to keep digging for a decent nurse job in Qatar or for her to look at working in Saudi, UAE or Bahrain and visting on her days off. (I will be working 5-6 days a week, she will be working 3-4 days a week on 12 hour shifts).

Can anyone offer any advice on:
1. Employment for western nurses in Qatar.
2. Best alternate locations in the gulf region for her with regard to ease and cost of travel to and from Doha and Visa issues?

I know the laws regarding unmarried couples under one roof and if she was working in Qatar she would have her own place. If she was visiting from another country would she be expected to provide details of where she is staying to customs/immigration every time she visits Qatar?

Any suggestions as to how we can both pursue our careers AND maintain a relationship would be much appreciated!

Cheers.

Post your request at the embassy a month earlier. That shd cover the cooling off period.

She not gonna love you very much if she has to stay in the staff quarters.

Thanks Nic... I'm aware of the laws.

I'm seeking advice as to ease/cost of regular travel between these countries and whether immigration/customs want to see evidence of which hotel the GF would be staying in when she visits Qatar every few weeks........

I can't marry her before coming - even if we wanted to get married at the courthouse there isn't enough time. My job starts in 3 weeks and the courthouse requires one months notice of intention to marry (cooling off period I guess).

In none of these places Saudi, UAE or Qatar, you are allowed to live with your girlfriend, unless you legally marry her before coming here.

As for the nursing job market, it's pretty much what you described in your post.
