hi, over the years I have heard mixed views on QL on how qatar can get entered into the pet passport scheme.

Does anyone have up-to-date news on this subject.

I am willing to follow through on this subject and it would be great if there are any others out there who would like to help.

thanks

lou

There is no form to fill out - you have to compile a dossier with all the information about Qatar, it's policies & proceedures regarding animals, quarantine facilities & proceedures, human demographics, info on all native fauna populations and their locations in Qatar, all previous confirmed cases of rabies, it's structure of Government etc complete with a covering letter. It's something that we worked on for months with help from contacts in other countries that are in the scheme along with various vets, the zoo, wildlife parks & government people.

Dr Yusury and Dr Qahtani are not vets - they are the Animal Expert and Director of Animal Resources respectivley. Their offices are on the 2nd floor of the Animal Resource Department. Now they fall under the Ministry of Environment it will probably have to be approved by the Minister himself before being submitted by Dr Qahtani.

The application dossier then goes to the the European Commission in Belgium where it is evaluated and then we get the nod (or not).

As I said above, we are back in contact with them, but unfortunately the person who has now recently been put in charge of the application is on vacation (and we can't find out when he's back). If you want to discuss it with someone then Dr Yusury or Dr Qahtani are the best people to chase it up with. Their english is not great though so if you can take an arabic speaker with you then it's an advantage.

i was at the animal resources last week but those vets were unavailable.

where do we get the application from? it sounds like we have to keep the pace up as nothing will come from your efforts of the past.

is it the ministry of animal resources that can give the yeh or neh or does the application have to go to someone higher to get the seal of approval?

and to what authority does the application have to pass to after qatar signs? Which authorities in the UK would have to accept the application from Qatar?

thanks for your help

The original electronic copy of the application is actually with me. The ministry of Animal Resource Department on Airport Road have a hard copy they were given to submit.

There are no contact details where you can get hold of them (they never answer the phone or reply to emails or fax!). If you want to talk to them about the application then you should try and get an appointment to see either Dr Yusury or Dr Qahtani.

We have been following them up for the last 3 years and we are now back working with them to change anything that is no longer valid in the application dossier which includes the human demographic section, the local fauna section and the quarantine facility/disease control section.

thanks Chelsea for the information.

I now want to contact the right people to progress further, if u have the contacts in the chain then i am happy to proceed.

you say that the application may now be invalid? who has the application form so we can resubmit?

which ministry is it that we have to contact?

thanks and best wishes

Unfortunately there's nothing further that can be done other then keep asking the authorities when it will be finished.

The application was completed by Qatar Pet Relocators & QAWS and submitted to the Ministry of Animal Resources over 3 years ago and until then nothing further has been done despite numerous organisations and companies constantly asking what's happening.

All the authorities had to do was sign the application and submit it. And it HAS to be submitted by the Ministry and not by a random individual.

Obviously though, 3 years down the line, there are a few bits of information in the application that are now invalid. Recently though, the Ministry has asked for updated information so although we're not holding our breath, things might be looking up. If they're re-evaluating the application and updating it, maybe they're finally considering submitting it...
