Skin and hair care during monsoons

and enjoy ur holidays

Monsoon is the time where your skin can behave strangely and often becomes unstable; suddenly it's gets oily or becomes dry and dehydrated. You must not stop taking care of your skin thinking that the blazing sun would no more harm your skin. The change in weather has a direct impact on the skin, which makes a good maintenance regime very important. So, modify your skin and hair care regime as per the changing weather.

Use a good soap-free cleanser. You could also use a gentle scrub once a day to remove all the dust.

Cleansing should be followed by toning using an alcohol-free toner. This is helpful since increased humidity could open up your pores.

The clouds may hide the sun, but the sun and its rays are still there. So, to protect your skin from tanning from harmful ultraviolet rays, using a sunscreen is important.

Use a light lotion-based moisturiser or serum, which will gently rehydrate your skin and also brighten it up. Avoid using oily moisturisers as they tend to mix up with rain water and make you feel very sticky.

Avoid heavy makeup and use waterproof make up when necessary

Eat salads blanched in boiling water to disinfect them, vegetable soup, which will keep you warm and healthy and drink the usual 8-10 glasses of water.

Boots can hold water for a longer duration, creating a soggy environment for your feet. So, avoid wearing boots.

Wash your feet and then dry them properly whenever they get wet due to rains

Avoid excess application of styling products, as this could make your hair very greasy and increased humidity could make them look worse.

Make sure your diet has hair friendly foods including milk and milk products, nuts, soya products

drmana...how come then I can always get cool water from my geyser even when go back home at about 3PM. In fact, in the nights, have to mix it with the hot water from the direct line to get a comfortable temperature.

By drmana• 30 Jun 2010 10:49

LP, there aren't any here. Now don't tell me to leave the country if I don't like it here.

Store water in water heater /geyser to get cool water.

By drmana• 30 Jun 2010 10:44
drmana

I thought to have one mj, but with a hyperactive toddler around I didn't feel safe to store in big ones.

Thanks for the suggestion. May be I should get the privilege of taking shower first with a bucket of water. Hubby won't mind getting bald :-P

By mjamille28• 30 Jun 2010 10:40
mjamille28

drmana, get a very big bucket... we have one in the house and always store water as water from the shower cannot be used especially when it's already afternoon.. very early in the morning, the water from the faucet is still tolerable though..

By drmana• 30 Jun 2010 10:38

mj, storing a bucket of water is not enough. Where to store a big amount of water for three of us. Taking shower at night doesn't help either as water is still very hot :-(

By mjamille28• 30 Jun 2010 10:33
mjamille28

drmana, dont wash your hair directly from shower...

...mjamille28, unfortunately not. Tell you the truth, I'm the last person on planet earth to apply facial masks. I have no patience for stuff like that.

Maybe when I'm 40 and above I'll start the Botox right away, at least it's non-sticky...LOL
