Surrendering of my RP

Hi,

My RP expires on 3-Jan-2011. I am planning to return to my home country by next month. Just wanted to know what will happen if I did not surrender my RP and leave. Will I have any problems in the future for not surrendering it? Or is it mandatory that i need to surrender it before I leave.
I may or may not come to Qatar again.

It will be of great help if anybody can guide me on this.

Thanks in Advance

These days it is mandatory to surrender ID and cancel the visa. But if you go and stay out of Doha more than 180 days it stands cancelled automatically but you may find difficulty in getting visa for other GCC countries.

as free visa, dont be under impression that you can go back and sell it is not possible,

If dont return before 6months automatically get cancelled.

If you decide of trying else where a job in GCC,u may have to get it cancelled.

Nothing will happen if you did not return before the expiry of your valid visa or within 6 months it will cancel automatically, it is better to cancel and go, if you need to find another job in Qatar or any other GCC country, then they will ask you to officially cancel the visa, you cant hold two GCC visa together.
