Tariq Marzooq Al Shamlan, Managing Director of Sunrise Trading and Food Stuff Co along with his son Marzooq Al Shamlan, Consul of the Philippine Embassy Jabbar Adiong and Vice President of International Operations for Asia Pacific and Middle East Dennis Flores cut the ribbon to inaugurate the first Jollibee franchise in Qatar at the Al Meera mall in Al Mansoura, yesterday. DOHA: Multi-national fast food chain Jollibee, which is very popular in the Philippines , was formally opened its first branch in Al Meera Consumer Goods Mall yesterday with top company and Philippine Embassy officials gracing the ribbon cutting ceremony.

With the inauguration, Jollibee, known for its popular and bestselling Chikenjoy, Yumburger and Jollibee Spaghetti, will be opened to the public today with the assurance from the partner-owners that the same kind of taste and services the fast food chain has been globally known of, will be served to the patrons in Qatar.

Thousands of customers who have been long craving for Jollibee would be accommodated with about 90 seats in its Al Meera store located at the mezzanine and a certified staff trained to extend the highest standards of services.

Dennis Flores, Vice President for International Operations, said they have orders from the top management that Filipinos and other nationals in Qatar should experience the same kind of food and services they have been known for.

With over 700 stores across the Philippines, US, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, Vietnam and Dubai, Jollibee’s entry in Qatar is in line with the company’s strategic expansion initiatives to firmly establish itself as an emerging international brand.

The first store of Jollibee in Qatar was realised after Tariq Marzooq Al Shamlan, Managing Director of Sunrise Trading and Food Stuff Co, and Jollibee President Ernesto Tanmantiong signed a partnership agreement in February last year.

It took the owners about three months to conduct an extensive marketing research to decide in choosing Al Meera as a strategic site for Jollibee’s first store in Qatar based on the findings that Mansoura area is heavily populated by Filipinos.

Khalid Tariq Al Shamlan, Deputy Managing Director of Sunrise Trading and Food Stuff Co, said the research was really meant to suffice the accessibility of Filipinos to their favourite Jollibee. “We will do our best to serve you and just as you walk through our door, we want you to feel that you’re back home in your country,” he said.

Consul Jabbar Adiong of the Philippine Embassy has welcomed the advent of Jollibee in Qatar saying this exemplifies the inherent traits of Filipinos who are vibrant, hardworking, colourful and happy. “These are the same traits why Filipinos are the most sought after employee all over the world.” The Peninsula

I work with the company from 1997 todate, i resign and going this july. how much should i get End of service pay if;

a. 1997 contract is silent about end of service pay (it does not say anything about it).

b. in 2004 i need to process visa for my child, in that day i need a contract so the company did provide me a contract with date back of joining to 1997, which says that gratuity "WILL BE PAID". these document was signed and stamped by labor dept. in 2004.

c. again in 2006, same thing is required for another child, but these time gratuity "AS PER QATAR LABOR LAW"

the company says end of service pay only start on 2005/1/1, thus i got only from 2005. is these correct.

your input/comments is or will be highly appreciated.
