Three community groups joined hands to raise QR18,500 for a poor resident and have thus provided him relief.
The Qatar Living Volunteer Group (QLVG), Pakistan Women’s Association (PWA) and Pakistan Group (PG) raised donations after hearing of the individual’s plight. The individual who has been a resident of Qatar for 30 years and who originally hails from northwest Pakistan has been partially disabled since last year.
“We heard about the financial crisis the individual and his family were going through since he became paralysed last year. The QLVG and PG forums visited the individual at the Hamad Hospital even as PWA visited his home and decided to join hands in helping the family,” a joint statement from the community bodies said.
“The family crisis aggravated after the man had another serious attack three months ago which completely paralysed him. The patient had been supporting his wife, a 14-year-old daughter and a 23-year-old son, also partially disabled since childhood,” the officials said.
“They have been living on charity support,” they said.
“By praising Allah and with generous contributions from community members towards this cause, we were able to raise sufficient funds for the family, enabling them to afford basic needs and medication for a while,” the official said.
“PWA has also been actively engaged in a number of community charity campaigns to help orphans and to meet the funding needs of school children in Pakistan through sponsorships from Qatar Charity,” the PWA official said.

You have been very helpful as usual.

We have a good news for this family.

The Qatari sponsor who was having some dispute for past 10yrs with the individual, heard his story (may be due our campaign). He felt sorry and offered a small house for the family in Pakistan and some financial assistance for them to settle down.

Tomorrow, the family is leaving Qatar for good.

I feel sorry for the old man (head of family) who is now completely paralysed, also is young son (23) is dumb and with disable body since childhood.

Hope Qatari man will take care of their monthly financial needs back home.

God is great.

Victory you have raised a very good point, well they are actually heading back to Pakistan to cost of living will be less but then again a money can last only certain time.

which is why I expressed with Speed and Xray recently that in longer term our vision should be (at least mine is) to help needy in terms of sustained income, which means one can always shed money here and there but then they are spent and gone

So things like getting some a job, giving someone a sewing machine, helping someone setup a small shop or workshop back home, setting up small non profit organization for needy are example of sustained income, where by you do it once and it continues automatically and with hard work of second party with out need of 2nd intervention,

while the examples of sustained income may not necessary but applicable all the time or atleast difficult to implement but something we should keep in mind

a postive and serious concern.......

A family in distressful & well deserving conditions like above; with an amount of QAR 18,500/- once arranged by charity organisations.

How long such a family could survive in Qatar with or without long term supports?

may be for 4 or 6 months then what next?

Life may become sometimes very long/painful under crisis.

long term help. I mean, does it mean the person will remain here in Doha? Maybe a work for the wife will a little alleviate their condition (if they remain her)!
