Emir in Arabic means prince.

Because Qatar is a state so the president is called amir. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia it is a kingdom so the president is called the King.

I met him already during the national parade last year December 18, he just smiles & wave his hand.

Actually if I were to meet the royal family here would it be correct protocol to curtsy?

The Emir is a Prince. A king is a "malik". Otherwise Sheikh Hamad is a normal person and very friendly, too.

I have never met EMIR in my 5yrs of stay in DOHA..So i m least bothered about it..Whether its an EMIR or PRIME MINISTER or PRESIDENT of any country, the citizens shld always be in their best behaviour if by chance the high delegates or HIS MAJESTY crosses that area..I know my ethics and values well,so i won't hesitate to show my utmost gratitude and respect to our EMIR of DOHA if ever i would meet HIS HIGHNESS in future...

LONG LIVE our EMIR...

Yes Emir is the King. When you are in his audience,do not look him straight in the eye. Don't make sudden movements or even smile unnecessarily. Put up your best self and let your humility come out at best.

From whatever little I know, you are supposed to fold your hands together in front of royalty and not appear rigid and upright, unless you are a military personnel.Remain standing, until they offer you a chair. And be yourself. Because they must be handling a lot of wierd characters who show off, on an everyday basis, that they can easily make out....

Bluemountain, I guess your lame answer is just to gather points, please let me know where you exchange the points for gold coins !!!!

This kind of point gathering is what messes QL up.

I would like to answer the 2nd question. Last National day, I was too tired and could not walk any more, so i sat on the road side with my head down and when the king passed by, he saw me he threw some gold coins at me......

just kidding.

Why 2 in 1?

You should ask one by one so you can get more point.
