I have been in Qatar since 25th April and my fiancee's company is sponsoring me as her dependant however I haven't had a medical yet and my visa run out yesterday. I went to the immigration centre but they said I cannot renew my visit visa, I have to wait for my medical to be done but they do not know how long it will take as my fiancee has been here 5 months and has only just had hers done, she had to renew her visit visa after a month, then fly out of the country after her second month was up, she had to do this twice while waiting for her medical. I have been told I am not allowed to leave the country as I am goin through the sponsorship and cannot renew my visit visa either. Does this mean I am now an illegal immigrant.Please can someone give me some advice on what the best thing is to do and can I also be charged by the police or fined by the immigration centre for overstaying my visit visa. I am so confused.
