Socializing in Doha

I have been in Doha for more than year, and city seems to be suoperior to other cities in terms of standard of living(in terms of pocket filler). Although there is a lot money and buisinesses flowing in to the city,I still find the socializing scenario to be pretty boring. The
city has a rich mix of people from different ethinicities and cultures, but there seems to be no platfroms for them to socialize. No communities,no good nightlife. In short,it still lacks much of the things which many less-developed cities boast about. Doha has been earning global significance for last few years, and i guess changes should be made to bring more of a people-participation in the city development process. If it could achieve that, development could be faster, and I am sure it would grow out to be one of the best cities.

As I see it,government is taking appreiable steps recently in promoting the city, and most of the people in here are quiete unaware of it( Thank god we know about 2022 bid). Part of the blame should be on the people because most of them don't like to utilize the available things. Many of them don't tend to think beyond their office(money),home(TV),and their beloved sleep. And they have the ready-made answer about the city-"boring"( the city or themselves??). And the "extroverts", wouldnt dare to think beyond a "weekend sheesha" and monthly "desert drive".

I still believe things are going to change in next few years, and there are a lot new people are coming to city who wouldnt be satified with routine sheesha. Afterall, you can't organize a worldcup with just stadiums&roads, without people, could you .?

I had to turn down 2 invitations today as I thought I was going out too much and needed to stay at home. You need to make a bit of an effort here, that's all.

clearly you have no friends, aspirations or desire to interact with humans.

if you had any life experience you'd realise doha is an ideal place for socialising.

sure i poke fun at everything and everyone, but hey, that's what makes it interesting sometimes.
