It seems meeting with people never happens and other then the mall which isn't interesting unless you have loads of money to spend there isn't much else for a Muslim woman do to...suggestions people?? (other then find a new country :P )

Jazaka'Allah Khairan for the response, yah you're right, and with the traffic and other priorities it isn't fair to be putting that type of pressure on the designated driver, so alhamdulilah. With so many it's also harder to move around, I think for now, I'm going to just take up sewing :) Insha'Allah. A hobby, something other then children and at home.. :)

Thanks everyone for your help, will keep all your suggestions in mind when I sew a dress inside out :P

assalamu'alaikum

Well, I am not the hang out type myself and I am not interested in idle talk as well maa sha Allah.

when I go out it is mainly for my kids , so they don't have to sit around the house all day long :)

There are some organizations here that go visited the sick and help the orphans.

go to the Muslim Expatriate Association' group (Stormy Foundation) and ask about it insha allah

some of the sisters here get together once a week and they have something like a e-book group (Islamic studies ) , if you email me I can get you the email address of the sisters insha allah if you like.

As for learning Arabic I am still looking for that myself.

Somebody said go to the Qatar guest center , I seen the sign by landmark but haven had the time to go actually and find it ... I let you know when I find out more insha allah

for the most part without a ride you will be stuck , it's just like that here:(

What's the chances there is some type of activity book in Doha with everything listed for women/kids that they offer? .. Does anyone know if Gharrafa Stadium offers any activities?

Jazaka'Allah Khairan people.. thanks for the suggestions, somehow I think I'm going to have to go all out and .......start something myself ? Being in Qatar that might be close to impossible. eh

I really truly don't want to "hang" out, I wanna be able to do something of use with my time, instead of getting into idle talk (which is easy to do ifyou have no life.. lol.. Masha'Allah).

Any sister's here know how to sew? Um, crochet, knit? Learning arabic would be good but it's so hard to find a female qualified teacher that'd come to the house.

Um, maybe we sisters can collectively do projects to benefit those in need. For example organize a bake sale (is that legal here...?) and use the funds to pay for 1 yr or 2yrs help an orphan in just say Afghanistan (for arugments sake). Or maybe find an orphange either here or a country we can get it to and everyone make small lil gift packs to give out? Or um, .... well you get the point ... thoughts , suggestions, any SITERS interested in something like that?

Book club... writing, poetry.....something that doesn't depend on ppl to do, but can easiy invovle ppl (i'm getting picky eh)?

Social meets are good but I'm hoping to basically find a hobby without any pressure of having a hobby..lol *yes, yes, i know .. dork!!*

*ahem* ...okay to clarify thats not my age on my profile :) If I was one foot in the grave hopefully by then I'd not have a bunch'a kids to worry about....whom I love and adore but still I'm searching for my sanity and my husband is unable to provide me with any...... soooo I guess I need my own life and I'm trying to find it. Figured since I'm in Qatar y'all would have some suggestions. I like fishing but where do I go?.. And how do I get there...anything close to Landmark?

I need to do something idependent of my spouse so as to not be a burden....umm.. sewing classes anywhere?

Thanks for the suggestion, problem is Fanar is way too far.

Do they have a library here?.. Maybe I should write a book...question is about what..lol :P

Plz keep your suggestions coming maybe something will click who knows, if you don't try ...you can only blame yourself eh

really i wondered when i wrote your words, when someone is in a new country everything is interesting because it is new,i remember when i visited italy for two month i did not spend any week end at home , always outdoor, watching the people ansd streets and learning the new culture, sometimes i went out without any plan for the day just going to the train station and taking the first train and return after spending few hours in a new place,

for you it is more interesting because you are muslim in an islamic country so you can learn more about islam , you can rather learn arabic language .

anyhow you can communicate with other forginers in Qatar they are majority .really many things to do [email protected]

Any charity organizations here to get invovled in?.. Back hoome there was a weekly SOUP KITCHEN that provided for both Muslim and non muslims Masha'Allah. Also a woman's organization that set up events to support single sisters or refugees etc. Anything here like that? Anything for orphans?..Sick....something where I can use my time for self fullfillment and also gaining in the hereafter. Insha'Allah... and something to look forward to other then house responsiblities. Maybe meet some other sisters with similar interets?...

* Sorry thinking outloud here*

...what your interests in life are..I don't even live in Doha but I assume that if you're into something you'll find a way of doing it..you're a mature lady you must have developed some interests over the past years. Are you into s[ports? There are loads of gyms in Doha many of them ladies only (I know rom friends) and you can do sports at a n easy pace if you prefer. If you're into reading there must be libraries in the British Council and what have you, maybe even reading groups. If you're a religious person there are scores of lessons at homes, mosques, everywhere.

When exactly did you arrive in Doha? If you're new you must appreciate that you need time to find your way around.

Wish you all the best!

try visting corniche or parks surrounding that during evenings,

you could also visit fanar for some Islamic activities.

souq wafiq opposite of fanar is also good place

have you been to Doha Islamic Museum?
