As a part of continuing efforts to combat crimes and fight against negative aspects alien to Qatari society, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) could to arrest a number of beggars who attempted to collect money illegally through easy ways violating the laws and taking the advantage of kindness and generosity of the Qatari people. The arrested were begging fraudulently alleging illness or injuries or other newly formed means to generate the sympathy of community members who do not stint to extend helping hands to them trusting their intentions as they give the beggars generously while they are not honest in their claims.

The Department with the support of Qatari nationals recently arrested a number of professional beggars who hold residence permit in one of the Gulf countries and found out that, the arrested beggars were creating artificial injuries in their own bodies in order to convince the citizens that they are in need of money for treatment. During the investigations, they admitted that they entered to the country with the intention of begging and then the legal actions were taken against them.
