Is it okay to go to malls alone? I was advised to bring somebody with me when going to malls. Is this true? Out of topic is "hugging" a form of pda for example your family/friends came to visit you in Doha, Qatar and in the airport can you guys hug as a form of a welcome? Thanks in advance...

if you lives in europe, why on earth you want to come to Doha when the flight cost as much as going to Bali, Thailand or Malaysia ?

Leave alone now with the visa restrictions and hassle ???

ZYJ When Terrorist or Spy Agency want to get to their targets they will find a way. The public at large has to suffer and also in my Opinion tarnish the image of Qatar as a progressive and upcoming place to visit.

ZYJ,

Nice excuse but what that has to do with Europe or North America?

UkEngQatar,

Qatar has two extreme opposed wings ruling: one wants progress and modernization, the other one aims to become as conservative as KSA!

Once and a while you'll get either one pushing their agenda into public's eyes!

UkEngQAT & NiC; for the VISA issue, maybe it was influenced by the recent events in DXB, the assassination case of that pali

Absolutely right. I guess they are building these hotels for the future. When/if they win the the bid to host the FiFa Worldcup.

Until then and closer to the present is the issue of all westerners requiring Visa from Qatari Embassies before coming to Qatar. I thought Qatar wanted to promote tourism??

UkEngQatar,

Those were built to count as qualifiers for any international sports event!

You know the mentality that drives Qatar: Show-off and impress focus on erecting the façade, forget about the core; focus on the now and forget about the future.

When money is above an extreme excessive quantity, which cares about a few empty buildings or even empty cities, as long as they form an illusion of a world class metropolis' skyline!

Who cares rules in Qatar ;)

UkEngQatar,

It would have been the progressive wing's job, otherwise it’s the conservative's say ;)

If true, no more or fewer western family and buddies and of course no more western tourism. Maybe it’s what they are looking for!

UkEngQatar,

Just saw it, thanks.

As usual the article is poorly substantiated, going to the point of using the word "rumors" and "unable to confirm"...

The media here.... or it might just be an April's Fool joke! Would the paper be allowed to go this far?!

Maybe they don't want to have here any western investment or tourism!

God knows what they want!

It all appears that there are to extreme opposed Qatari policies competing with each other!

All Asians (even married ones) cannot go alone to shopping Malls on fridays!

In Family Days, when they say "No Singles", they mean "No Male Asians unaccompanied".

People are we forgetting about FAMILY DAY? A guy cant go into the malls alone on Family days which is Thursday or Friday. You can only enter if you have a female with you. as Females are considered "family" around here. Hugging at the airport is no big deal.

Good Fortune always comes knocking at your door...when you are sh*tting in the toilet!! :)
