Vote for Qatar!
Nouf Al-Sulati has been shortlisted as one of three women -- and the ONLY representative of Qatar-- for the "Spread Some Inspiration" campaign, which kicks off around international women's day every year to recognize extraordinary achievement by women across the Middle East.
Let’s show our support for Qatar-- and Nouf-- and VOTE today at http://www.spreadphiladelphia.com
Hey Schoolooks, yeah man, tone it down a little. Qatar is a great place and Nouf is not a typical Qatari, just ignore her man, don't get so upset. She doesn't need the money man, all she wants is the attention. Yeah man, I'm voting labourers chick, Saher Shaikh, all the way. She deserves it the most. Anyone know what happened to my thread? This is not right guys. I started an intellectual, independant, cool analysis of people and how we tick and used this voting for Saher, Dina or Nouf as an example and they've shut it down man! No bad language, no offensiveness, but they shut it down? What is this man? If I'm not voting Nouf, my thread gets canceleld?
Oh yeah, Sugah, love your quote. So true.
Who the hell this girl thinks she is???? my friend showed me this link and I read the history of nouf in here and she is a disgrace to Qatar! She compares her country to poo over here http://www.qatarliving.com/node/11974#comment-61494
She says Qatar is not a real country: http://www.qatarliving.com/node/49506#comment-209934
She says that she loves the website qatarsucks : http://www.qatarliving.com/node/20256#comment-98550
And if you read all her posts most of it is anti-Qatar! Why should we vote for this selfish idiot to represent Qatar!!! Any Qatari should spread this link and vote for the other two people who did get things for the countries they represent, not this freaking idiot! All she wants is the $10,000 cash award!
I don't think Nouf is worthy of this award. There are far many more women who have accomplished much more, on their own - and are Proud Qatari's!! I think I would qualify for this, or my cousin's. But we do not need Cheese awards to make us whole and feel as if we have achieved something in our lives.
and Formatted Soul, We are not the typical Qatari ladies ourselves, but I myself would Never insult my homeland. She should be ashamed of herself.

philadelphia cream cheese makes you fat.
Speed, Deepb, the system lets you vote again if you're voting for other finalists.
I voted for Sahir Sheikh, the one who adopts labour camps. I read all the finalist's stories and that was the one that really struck a chord with me. She's the only one whose cause is not herslf but others.
when it comes to Land, which we consider as our Land as our Mother. In any circumstances we should not say such prahses!
If she is changed, she must change her profile immediately :-)
I hope so genesis. By the way mind clarifying our doubts on the legality of dating on this thread?
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/975897
maybe she wrote that in a low point of her life, and she’s not that person anymore. She doesn’t post here from a while now, not to mention her recent points were tuned-down.
Mostly, her posts revolves about her struggle to fit in
Anyway, I haven’t voted for her. There are many inspirational leading Qatari women who have proven themselves contributed to society.
She cannot live with 2 faces... this is what her profile says about her own Land.
"i am so full of life it's not even funny.. rather annoying actually.. i sprinkle joy and vomit sunshine wherever i go... i spent the best years of my life in the UK then had to return to this desert hell i call home... it really does suck the life out of you.. trying to stay positive... and continue to entertain myself..."
and in today's news article she says:
"I want to use my position and the attention I am generating at the moment to encourage younger females to follow my footsteps - be bold and out spoken..."
Sorry I voted for a wrong person :-(
insulting...
We know in West, using such prahses are common under the term 'Freedom of Speech' but in Arab/ Muslim culture such prahses are considered as Insult.
I know how you feel speed. :(
agreeing with LincolnPirate
if thats the way you feel .. i respect that. lets just agree to disagree ;)
so who did you end up voting for? dina or sahir

She is not doing anything to help anyone's cause other than herself. And it's quite clear that she prefers to have stayed in UK rather than returning back to the hell that sucks the life out of her.
Compare this to what she has said on the site and the ugly hypocritical two-faced nature comes out blaring.
Khawaga - yes i did vote, but as i mentioned before, i didn't vote for her because i personally felt closer to issues that were being dealt by other candidates.
deepb - i think its a matter of perception, when she said that "she had to return to this desert hell", i looked at in terms of her being modern independent arab woman trying to make a mark for herself in a male dominated conservative society. i am not arab, nor a woman, but wht i can say is that women even in western societies still face the glass ceiling and constraints in many aspects of life, so you can only imagine how difficult it must be for her. i might be completely wrong, since i don't know this person, but thats the way i interpreted her statements. Hell can mean different things for people. i hate hate certain things that happen india, which is my hell, but i love the country and the principle it was set up on. basically wht i am trying to say is that, hatred for ills in your culture and hatred for your country are two different things.
at the end of the day, the vote is not for patriotism, its for the what she is doing for her cause.
Yes ravster , I think this particular part of her profile challenges her sincerity towards her own country -
am so full of life it's not even funny.. rather annoying actually.. i sprinkle joy and vomit sunshine wherever i go... i spent the best years of my life in the UK then had to return to this desert hell i call home... it really does suck the life out of you.. trying to stay positive... and continue to entertain myself...
Desert hell she calls home.... Still think she is entitled to an Arab Women's Award? I wish I could take back my vote. sigh.
I know her... she is a member of QL...
http://www.qatarliving.com/user/nouf84
She didnt have anything good to talk about the culture or tradition of Qatar...
Da... she is the sister of our old member Ahmed44..he is a actor now..
Truly agreed to u FS..She has full of venoms for her own land QATAR..Y to vote for her if the own citizen of this country is against of her land???
Swine Flu: I live in the Industrial Area. It was my choice to move here, as it was your choice to take your current position. And it is your choice to stay there. All these choices... sounds like freedom to me!
Following ravster's comment, back to the topic. Did YOU vote ravster?
i think this thread is going away from the topic. yes i am to blamed for it too. guys (khawaga and swine flu) while you have a interesting points to discuss i think it would be better to start a new thread.
Formatted Soul - i don't think she has said anything bad abt Qatar. i have read some of her posts and i think she is just questioning the Status quo. she comes across as a highly intellectual qatari woman who is not afraid to express her opinion and i can only hope that there are more of her kind are out there. things in Qatar are far from perfect and we do need more Nauf's in the country.
i didn't vote for her, but thats just bec i feel a lot more connected to the labor problem in the region.
Hoping a job is not include in human rights but moving from one to another or changing job according your choice should count in human rights. It's your choice that where you will work, is not it? But you cannot change unless you got a so called NOC. Moreover, go to industrial area and check all the labour accommodation there & talk to them. You will know the situation.
Actually represents a typical teenage Qatari kid - two- faced hypocrite. Complaining about her own country when she is in a position to make a difference.
The other ones there probably deserved the vote. Stupid me.
Deep she is a very smart and efficent girl...but dont really represent a normal Qatari/Middleeastern girl..
khawaja - i think wht swine flu means is the freedom to work for you want. in any country apart from Qatar , you can leave a company after giving appropriate notice if you feel that you are not happy there, whether it is because of pay, work environment etc, lack of career progress. in fact i quit my first job in australia bec of that very reason. in Qatar on the other hand, companies WONT allow you to leave for another company who is will to pay you what you think is appropriate.
Darn it FS, why didn't you tell me this earlier. I would've voted for one of the other ones.
sorry .. but i don't think i can vote for her. in my opinion, the laborers are the most disadvantaged and abused group in the middle east and i would vote for someone like SAHER SHAIKH from UAE who runs the Adopt-a-Camp charity.
but best of luck to Nouf too
Swine Flu: When did job hopping become a human right? Sorry. I was using the UN's definition to include things like life, participation in culture, work, food, education and so forth. If someone is killing off expats here, or denying us health care or food or something, then you might have a case.
Look around you. You will know what human rights missing here. Just one example: as an expat you cannot change your job unless there is NOC from your current employer. Don't you think it's human rights violation??
If they want me to vote for one of them, One will have to savor my cream cheese, delicious melt in the mouth.
The income tax has made more liars out of the American people than golf has.

I do not know her. So I do not vote.
What I know is Philadelphia Spread Cheese promotion in Villiagio. If you buy one which cost 8.50 QR, you will get one long baguette.

Nouf is a friend of mine and I work with her.
Although I already voted her thru one of VF friend on Facebook.
You, LincolnPirate and Swine Flu, suck! What does she have to do with that? Boycott the people that are allowing it, not her? Lame!
~*Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret*~
No vote for a country that practices 'Modern Slavery'.
What did this person do? I've never heard about her and I'm a local Qatari myself. Where can I read about her achievements in life?
~*Speak when you are angry and you will make the best speech you will ever regret*~
Swine Flu: what human rights do you feel are missing here?
It's 554 now. Good Luck to her.
Voted. 500 cases under her belt at 24.. Sounds impressive.
Congratulations ,
