Women sponsoring their husband
Hello! I am an American Citizen and will be moving to Qatar with my husband who is a German Citizen. I will get sponsorship by my employer and I know I can sponsor my husband, but is that only for a residence permit, or can I sponsor him for a work permit? Can he only be sponsored by a company? How does this process work? Are there even job opportunities available??? Please help!!!! Thank you.
Postmoderman,,,,

Postmodernman...any suggestions about jobs for local hires? How should he start looking? Do you have any suggestions of places that you worked?
Thanks for your help!
Thanks to everyone for your quick and helpful responses! Just to clarify:
I am able to sponsor him for work
I do not have to transfer sponsorship (he would lose all the benefits form my emplyer)
He is able to find work as a local hire
Am I getting this all correct? Sorry, I am just very overwhelmed by everything!
you are the sponsor, and not your company.. if he finds a job here, and his employer allows him to give him working visa, then he can transfer sponsorship (from you, with No Objection Certificate (NOC), to his new employer)...
Good luck!
If he is under your sponsorship you can issue a NOC and he can work for another company. No need to be sponsored by this company.
Continue to look for a job before coming but ...
i came over under my wifes sponsorship (Canadian) originally. If he comes under visa, then he has to leave the country and renew from time to time. If you sponsor him, this may improve your benefits from you employer as well.
If there is no job before arrival, at least he has legal status here.
Continue to look for work once you get here. There are companies that will do local hires (for less money, granted) but if he gets one of those, he can stay under your sponsorship. I did that for a couple of years.
If he finds a job where he needs to transfer sponsorship, do it then. All you have to do as his wife is write a no objection certificate. But make sure that you bring along original educational certificates cause they will want that. There will be some other paperwork to do as well, but you can figure that out when you the sponsorhip possibility exists and get the paperwork done here through your embassy.
Sponsor on visit visa and let him find a job and have the company sponsor him then..Unless he doesn't have any plan of working, then apply for residence permit instead.
