Doha Trade Fair - Ossome!
Hello everyone,
Just passed by the Qatar Exhibition Centre and there is this great show going on. There are lots of stalls from different countries in Europe, China, the UAE, Oman and others.
Clicked a few snaps of it. The exhibition opens everyday at 10 and goes on till 10 at night. The admission is free, but I found some of the stuff to be expensive. There’s lots of stalls to see and it’s worth a look at. The exhibition gets over on the 24th.
Happy hunting at the exhibition grounds.
This is the floor plan for the area. If you look carefully, you can see that Morocco, UAE, Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Thailand, Malaysia, Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain and Kuwait (and European countries) have representation in the show.
There are dried fruits…
…and lights…
…and personalised bead-chain makers….
…and handicrafts…
…and household items (complete with Arabic speaking Singaporean salesman)…
…and oudhs (perfumes)…
…and silver plates and decorative utensils…
…and imitation gold ornaments…
…and Indian cooking ranges or tandoors…
…and silver and bronze decorative items…
…and paintings.
It looks like this show had a lot of good stuff at it. But it looks like there was A LOT of stuff! I always find myself looking for the most eye catching pop up displays for trade shows when I go. To me they separate the people who put effort into the show rather than people that just showed up.
No sir, I am not its promoter. Just a grandmom of two, who likes travelling around, and posting about what she sees. I found something nice to share, I did.
What you, or others, make of it is strictly subjective. I liked it. I'm sorry you were disappointed in it.
Peace out.
It was very disapointing.. to say the least
How come saturday afternoon entry was not allowed to the exhibition?
yes,jack mohan ..
per day 2000..
TOMORROW is the last day.......................may be tomorrow they reduce their prices....
Went today at 1pm, after seeing the pix. Not so awesome. It was closed, and will either open at 4, 6pm or some time in the evening, depending on who you talk to. No signs in English.
thanks for sharing.

Qr 2,000 per day...Phew!
yesterday we visited there , but prices are very high . I just asked the one of the shopkeeper he mention that the rent for one stall is 2000 per day , so that they should sell the items in a high price...............
Was there stalls from Thailand or Malaysia..??
I went earlier today! I enjoyed the atmosphere, but have to agree with some of the others, it was full of cheap tat and I couldn't believe the prices they were charging. I'm really glad I went for the experience of it though :-)

Whether childrens are allowed?
But it was really over priced - u can find most of that in Rawnaq, Rameez or Souq Jabor
And if folk are willing to pay that then good for the stall holders.....
Hay thanx for all the information and brilliant pictures,
have a great weekend
:-)

About the pricing, can't the reason be that they were charged to rent the booth at a higher rate? -- Be positive people. Everyone is out there trying to make a living.
Ahhhh after visiting today I can fully understand why China has such a high GDP ;)
It was very er em ah 'glitzy' I needed to sit in a darkened room for an hour afterwards - LOL
We went, expecting too much, I guess. Most of the items were low quality, some even cheesy. They were spraying some of the worst smelling perfume I have ever smelled, and demonstrating some of the most garish make up I have ever seen. Furniture was poor quality, carpets even worse. Horrible traffic in the parking lot, big waste of time.
ITF at QTEA from 17 - 24th of this month....
Can't wait for Feb's exhibition comes....... :)
Happy Week-end everyone ^_^
Great pics. Thanks for sharing. Will probably drop by on Saturday.

Very Good! I shall go. But I was looking for the Polish couple selling amber.
Love the Pic, nice snap! Went to the Trade Show and was a bit underwhelmed overall although if you are looking for Abayas there were some pretty incredible designs. Not as many carpet vendors as I had hoped but place was packed and atmosphere was very cool, everybody dressed up and kids running about. I dug it.

As a matter of biology; if it bites you it's probably female.
Thanks for posting, after seeing these pics I want to go too :-)

nice pics..
The catch is you might get some items ...that you might not find anywhere easily.
Small things but unique ones ....
will require a lot of walking ....they should give segway machines on hire...to save on all the walking....lol
I might search for Flour making machines...lol
...& there are some affordable items too... just got to have patience looking around... ;)
...Azi, one can never tell, my colleagues made an impromptu site visit & ended up buying... ;)
..anyway, as Wanderer said, worth the visit ^_^
maybe I should come and take a look...just look..not buy..lol
They were charging higher....for almost everything last time around....but the atmosphere was great!
for sharing, will visit this Friday :)
Wow, looks great!
