Rash Driving - Qatari Youngster

Pachy Pachy
By Pachy Pachy

I am in this Country for almost 7 years now. But its sad to say that most of Qatari Youngsters have a very bad and rude attitiude while driving their cars. I observed this the very few days after me arriving here.I thought this should be made public after the horrible instance that I saw hardly an hour ago.

At the roundabout near Centre behind Ramada. I saw this young qatari driver zooming in on a no entry road and alomost banged into another car driven by an Indian family. When the Indian man politely asked him to move the young man's car back the guy just jumps out of his vehicle and abuses the Indian. The worst he caught the Indian's shirt thru the door window and slaps his face. Mind you while his family including his two small children are in the car. And this is what he excatly what this qatari said.....this is Qatar and not India. If your family was not here I would have killed you....All people who saw this including an Arab expat was so astonished and confronted this qatari guy.

Its a shame that such people are a disgrace to this wonderful country. Probably lack of a proper childhood, family background, education and values??

Why talk about such issues around the world when this has happened in Qatar. Is Qatari youngsters generally a spoiled lot because of the money power or is it because they are brought up this way?? Or is it that they have a different approach towards the colour of the skin??

Oryx....your point (a) is right...but (b) is totally wrong. Racism & Discrimination is almost everywhere....but ONLY in Gulf....its Discrimination by LAW.

How much did he pay for killing the girl... nothing can replaced a child you love and raised.

GodFather.

Story of one bad Qatari youngester! but there are also alot of polite ones too. Well it;s their country they can do what they like.

I remember stopping a Qatari gentlemen in his LC when he was driving down a no entry street. With my broken arabic I reminded him that it was a one way street. On which he replied in his broken English, My city I can do what I like, made me smile and he continued on....

if the guy had retaliated in the UK

a) he would have been stabbed

or

b) the police would have put the victim in prison

its a lot safer here than in the uk

By anonymous• 18 Jan 2010 18:48

its plain and simple..

matters like this should be handed over to the police...the law will see it through..

there no use bragging about your own physical strength, audacity or attitude to fight back here in QL..its childish.

nobody is above the law.

Why isnt this on the front page? After all, its just as true (or not) as half the stories posted here.

This happens everywhere guys. If it happened here in the UK, he would no doubt have had the utter shit kicked out of him.

Personally, I wouldn't have tolerated it. That guy would regret threatening me let alone physically assaulting me.

U know, i too would have done the same thing of what u have said or would have encouraged my husband to do the same..I swear,if this case would have happened in INDIA, he (the culprit)would have never seen the next day's SUN...If these kind of people can endanger the life of others with their NONSENSE driving, we too have the right to root out them from the society...isn't it???

My comment was a reaction in empathy of a man insulted in front of his family.Especially, his kids. I meant what I said and I hope and pray that no one is at the receiving end of my wrath.

It might come to you as over the top but thats exactly what I'll do in such a case. And please don't bother about my background as it's too insignificant here.

Rash driving is associated with teenagers almost everywhere. As for manhandling the "Indian" guy, well the "Indian" guy should go and complain or the on-lookers should take down the license plate and then file a complaint.

I see drivers back home getting into a fight all the time, sometimes myself personally involved ;)

......only god could have protected the rash driver.Whoever he was. I would have beaten him black and blue and would have probably run my car over him after taking care of my family. Then I would have tied him behind my car and would have dragged him skinless all over Doha.

Whatever is the reason behind that youths misbehaviour I must stress it is the person who suffers abuse and do nothing is wrong . Most of the time Indians have a tendency towards non confrontation which is refered by locals as " Miskeen" and this is not limited to people who work as house hold employees but to most of the Indians I belief this to be the root cause of this sad episode . If I had such an incident I would have taught that brat a lesson he would not forget easily.

It is a sad reality here, totally neglected by the Qatari Authorities and educators in general.

Just finished with the Al Fazaa. All i had was a picture of his car number plate. they traced him. Good luck to him....

let me clarify to Bleu....its not that anyone is against anyone here. its just the attitude shown to expatriates who play a big part in developing your country. may it be an indian, british, american, australian, egyptian, jordanian......Am sure 99 out of 100 will have such incidents to say but would have kept to themselves knowing of the BIG WASTAA that goes in favour of Nationals here.

All of us have and are still playing a major part in developing your beautiful country thru our works/profession. So being a Qatari if you see such incidents you should definitly react. Expatriates should be treated as your friends/guests and not merely like servants. Its the mentality basically.

Trust me...if this had happened to me...I do not care who the guy would have been....he would have been in a real mess.

Anyways it was nice to see him shivering today with Al Fazaa.

Well here is a good idea

If someone has 3 or more unpaid traffic violations they should be banned from driving till they are paid.

Driving rules should be rigorously enforced - i would love to see a massive draconian enforcement of the driving rules.

Teenage boys can be a menace anywhere - just more so if they have a vehicle!

As I’ve written many times earlier, Just take their car plate number & file a complaint. These cases are taken very seriously now. And forget about all those racist posters who claim that Qataris are above the law, No one is.

I suspect his family would be shocked if they knew their son had behaved with such bad manners, such lack of self-control. Lack of self control is considered shameful, here.

The Indian who was assaulted did the right thing. Don't hit back. And never never never use bad language or insulting hand gestures - you can have a travel ban placed on you, go to trail (and lose) and go to jail or pay a steep fine.

You have a few weapons. You can shame a young man like that with your own good manners and self control. I also keep a camera with me; it's funny how people can change their attitude when someone is recording the event. Eve is right; Fazaa is rarely where they are most needed - and are they Qatari? How do people in police positions who are from other countries hand out fines and discipline to a Qatari?

Its their country after all and yes its very true that they have seen enough wealth in a very short span of time..So obviously some will be a spoiled BRAT..I have witnessed umpteen number of cases where the young LOCALS try to overtake other vehicle, not following signals, not wearing seat belts, having burger or talking on mobile when they r driving in their DINASOUR kind of CAR (lolzzzzz)..Its really not a good sign..There r hardly ne cases where the young LOCALS have accepted their fault..I just wish them to be bit POLITE and be EDUCATED..

By Eve• 18 Jan 2010 09:01
Eve

Don't you think people are also acting as if they can do anything because they almost can. Fazaa is a good idea but I rarely see them.

By thalib01• 18 Jan 2010 01:17

i never even mentioned about a response here..

responding is all upto the victim.. he had his options..

leave his car right there and call the cops, and many more! it would have been his own instinct, he could have even hit him back.

this unresponsiveness only gives that rascal the license to manhandle another victim.

Why do you people think that there is no justice here or in the Gulf? Its a different thing if you dont have time to seek justice, when all you can think about is losing a days salary if you run behind getting "justice".!

By KHATTAK• 18 Jan 2010 00:51

It is a shame to see this, it happens but people turn a blind eye to it all, If this happened in my country Australia, the guy would of had one of two things happen to him. 1 would be he would of had teh shit kicked out of him, and 2 teh police whould of charged him and locked him on the spot for asult, our police dont sit back and do nothing like here. Sorry to hear this happen to teh family, sorry for him and the kids to see their father treated liek that. times liek this you wish you had a baseball bat with you to teach the kid a leson.

Agree, most people would not tolerate such behavior, the qatari lad was lucky he had a polite man.

Regardless of nationalities involvement here it's a shame because as Muslim he should he knows the importance of respect towards other

never mind one of the important reason for after life is for to become even with these people\

P.S. someone should have taken his picture etc to be published as proof and possible action by police

do you wanna entirely blame it on the "Qatari" upbringing..?

dont you think that a spoilt rich Indian kid driving his expensive car in an Indian city, could have done the same too. or for that matter a gangster...?

By rb73• 17 Jan 2010 23:10

It starts from home actually, in this country most of the family servents and drivers are from Asian countries. At a very yound age these Qatri children are observing the abusive behavior of their parents towards them and this situation is spoiling them. However, there are many cultured Qatri families too. One should avoid abusing their servents at all or at-least infront of their youngsters and teach them to behave like a gentleman.

I am an Indian, and I have been bought up in Qatar...

Yes i do agree that at times Indians r treated like shit, but seriously if that was done to any of my family or friends then no matter who it is and no matter how soon they kick me out of here..i would not bear it...

I would still say that it all depends on the upbringing.... I know Qataris who have stood besides me during my bad times..just not Qataris my other arab, pakistani, european friends....

What i m trying to say is that... Its not Qataris in particular, but every other kid whose parents have not given them enough lessons on respect.

The General problem is too much money in a very short span of time, combined with lack of proper education, that the society could not fully evolve to being a wealthy nation,in short what the Nation bit off seems too much to chew at times. My sympathies to the person and his family, but there are many beautiful pple in this country as well,...lets hope the few bad apples are getting their act cleaned with proper education and upbringing, after all such youth cannot be counted as a future to any nation

You can be HOT or COLD to me, spare me LUKEWARM!!!!
