Why automatic car transmission not engage?
my ssangyong rexton many time in winter not engage the gear immediately after we put it in D,
always have to wait 2-3 minutes than it start engage normally.
this is year 2005 car and milage 120k kmh.
previous owner overhauked the trans on 90k kms before.
please advice.. before i go to that expensive ssangyong garage at industrial area....thanks
i encountered same problem with korando. they have the same auto transmission. YES, the transmission is faulty. have it check and maybe its not yet very expensive to repair. otherwise if you keep using the car, more gears will be damage.
Eather the transmission oil is less and never been changed or the clutch is been damaged.
I suggest to sell this car and find you another brand, because you maintenance expinces starting to increase and it will bother you very soon, go for Japanese cars eather toyota or nissan if you are looking for SUV's.
Sangyong is a sad song
ssangyong rexton...I believe there is no engine oil in your car!!!....your car could have engine oil leakage...check of oil marks under car on the road after you move it.
Somehow manage until the winter is over, then sell off the car in summer when the problem is not there. Then buy a Toyota Corolla, ever dependable never lets you down, cheapest maintenance ever and hardly any petrol required:):)..
and next time, dont buy Korean stuff..:):)
Most probably the Transmission oil used in your A/T is old (long time), try to change it first. Or there something wrong with the valve body which waits for it to build pressure then it starts to engage.
Better check it with Tristar for diagnosing first, get a quotation.
Sell your Ssangyong Rexton and buy a better brand of car.
