help guys i need some advice...
hi guys,i need a little of your mind on this..
for the past four years i have been force to work in our company at least 11 hours a day and 7 days a week without overtime and much more worse is that its a broken schedule...
i said to myself that i will endure and just wait for 5 years after that i can try to find a new job, and so the time has come..
this 2010 i will be 5 years now from our company, i have endured the 11hours of work seven days a week and a monthly housing allowance of 200 Qatar riyals.. not to mention the transportation that i am providing myself...
before when i ask my colleagues about the timing and the days without a rest they said it was ok with them.... and later that i discover that these people i mean my co workers are just nothing in their country.. what im trying to say is like this... they take a man from their country tell them they will work here in qatar and all the expenses including the visa and the plane tickets, accommodation and transportation are free with a salary of qr1200.and they will just cut 500 qr a month with their salary for 2 years... for the visa and the other documents that will be precessed.
i mean for a guy who does nothing in their respective country and a guy ask you to work abroad and earn money.. why not right??... that answered my question when someone new came and if i ask if they knew how to speak English.. they tell they do not know english and even their national language, neither the Arabic language so ask myself how come this guy got hired from this company...
i of course on the other hand applied in the company with full colors and i prove to them that i was deserving for the job...
now my question is if i can somehow tell this to the human rights commission and if they would listen to me or entertain me that the company that i was working with was violating the qatar labour law .nd that they can help me regarding transferring of my work..or at least support me,
cause like i said im planning to find a work to another company.i am kinda tired of working all day and all night long so please if you have an advice for me on what sould i do..
please do..
thanks in advance..
No one can prepare a contract which says more than 48 hours a week, if some one prepared it is against labour law, after 8 hrs you have to get O/T for the excess hours and fridays extra 1.5 salary. If you are not satisfied you can ask for a release, but remember one thing if you are recruited by this company from your country it is there choice to release you. Try for human rights with a proof that you worked 11 hrs a day and friday. (if you have any timecard or time sheets in your hand) after two years you can change your visa then why you wait for 5 years?!
Nobody is a slave unless we allow ourselves to be slaved. You've have had enough. Go and explore. When you find a new job, chances are that you might get the prized NOC or maybe not. You speak English well. What not explore new jobs in other countries. Maybe your luck is there.
Regarding human rights issue, that will be ok but as i see it, you have a very long patience enduring 5 years in that situation. Past is past. When you take that issue just now, it will take you a lot of time to prove your issue. It might give you positive results or you might get disappointed in the end.
Good luck.
as we all know.. when we sign the contract it perfectly states there that we are only allowed to work at least 48 hrs. of work if ever exceeded thus came the overtime.
i know because i signed the same contract as everybody does.
but as far as we know some company doesn't follow these at all, like for example is mine of course, how can you complain to that when it is only i who is the only one complaining and that other people just live there lives like there isnt something wrong.how can i just resign from that company 4 years ago if i had spend money that it isnt easy find these days.so i try to just play the game simple and wait for the right time to come..
and hopefully this i think will be the time.
i am just hoping that they could give the N.O.C.
and i am just thinking that if they don't agree to give me one even if i compensate them. will i get a help from any government facilities, such as the labor office and the human rights commission.
thanks
Anybody can go and find other employer in this country as long as he/she got the NOC ( No Objection Certificate) from her/his current employer. In your case my friend, you have a contract in which you agreed all the terms and conditions stipulated in the contract.
Then now you are complaining about the policy of your company.
Do one thing, talk to them (hrd)and ask about your complaints.Maybe they will listen. Good luck!!!
