Best place to live?

We are arriving in early March. Have visited Doha just before Christmas. We are British/Australian in our 50's and VERY young at heart. Both professionals. Our rental budget is 20,000-25,000. Apparently The Pearl is the best address and Westbay. My husbands office is near The Ramada. I shall be writing. As I saw, there is a lot of money in these areas and possibly no heart. I want to meet 'real' people who read, discuss, drink coffee and wine. Also, just don't know whether to bring furniture or not. Company will pay for everything. I have a baby grand piano and some antiques. Should I store them or bring them? OR just walk into a furnished villa/appartment?

I brought my piano

and nothing else.

If you do store them, be sure to get a proper climate controlled storage place. Most are not and will make no guarantees regarding damage to your property. I would be sure to insure the antiques.

Our rental budget is 20,000-25,000.

you should do fine with that

Apparently The Pearl is the best address and Westbay. My husbands office is near The Ramada.

the commute will be a pain! There are probably half a dozen residents there so far so you will probably never see your neighbours.

I shall be writing. As I saw, there is a lot of money in these areas and possibly no heart. I want to meet 'real' people who read, discuss, drink coffee and wine.

Then get somewhere near the Ramada - lots of coffee shops and bars there

Also, just don't know whether to bring furniture or not. Company will pay for everything. I have a baby grand piano and some antiques. Should I store them or bring them? OR just walk into a furnished villa/appartment?

Up to you. My furniture is fine, but then the landlord knows what he's doing. Some of the places are furnished in very gaudy 'local' furniture. I'd store antiques in case they go missing or get broken here. bring the piano if you are going to play it.

I would store the piano and antiques. The moving outfits here seem a little rough from what I have encountered so far.
